there was a web enhancement, not for CotSQ, but another book, that updated everything that needed to be updated. I'd look it up, but I'm too lazy at the moment.

EDIT: here's the link:

ya i found it and i dl'd it and was going through it, and once again WotC has screwed over and manipulated the buyer. 5 of the creatures ARENT updated, instead it says either 'revised in fiend folio' or 'revised in underdark' that way you have to buy those books just to find out what the changes were to a handful of creatures. totally not cool, my opinion on WotC just hit rock bottom

we all have our feelings against WotC. Sorry, man

You can't expect them to put everything free online, can you?

Really, it's just what happens when you buy into their scheme of buying 3.5. ;) There was really no reason for them to release an entirely new 'game.' All they should have done was continuing to see the 3.0 books with little expansion packets. Or, perhaps, attach an Update packet to every 3.0 adventure/module for an additional 2 bucks or what have you. Or let you download them if you sent in 2 bucks, etc.

thats fine, ill just go to borders and sit down and write the stats into a notebook. take that, WotC!

It's really not that huge a difference and won't affect you game really just run the thing

You shouldn't admit to breaking laws on a public forum.

S'bad.

Don't tell anyone when you do it. ;)

None of the creatures were changed at all (just things like space were listed, and I'm sure you can figure that out).
The big changes to the module are the changes to classes (ranger and monk), and the change in the haste spell which changes the tactics for a lot of characters.

... it looks like the creatures stats WERE changed a lot, diff. feats and skill bonuses and stuff.. ill used the revised stats for the ones i have, but for that handfull of creatures that arent detailed im just gonna use the stats in the book, im too lazy to spend 30 mintues copying out stats and descriptions... well, ill do this if it wont have too much of an effect on the game. do you think this will be unbalancing? will some be too strong or others too weak? i started playing under 3.5, so i dont know how drastic the changes were

My game is 3.5 but I use material from 3.0 all the time. You don't need to update anything, it plays just fine as is. If there is a small inconsistency you can update it on the fly as you go just by making small, ad hoc judgement calls.

No player is going to notice or appreciate any work you do to update the monsters from 3.0 to 3.5 so don't even bother, you will save yourself a bunch or worry and prep time, and everyone will still have just as much fun.

CotSQ is a great adventure, you made a great purchase. Just play the thing and never look back. :)

The major difference I would worry about is the DR as these are monsters to be killed.
CotSQ is deadly enough without worrying about giving the monsters more skill points and feats that make them even harder.
The only changes are

Demon, Blood Fiend 15/good
Demon, Maurezhi 10/good

I know the Maurezhi has a sliding scale, but I think this enough to run the adventure, or at least a start for the scale.

This came from the 3.5 booklet updating Fiend Folio to 3.5.

If you must, you can bring them up to date with skills and feats using the guidelines in the DMG.

There was at one time a fan thread for 3.5 Revisions to the module, but looks like it has been lost (culled), and with the Search function down. I can't seem to location it.

This site might help a bit: http://forum.dnd-gate.de/index.php?showtopic=79

It is a thread done by Zanan on the adventure for correction/revision purposes.

The Thread is hosted by a German Site.
So the content is in both German and English.

my campaign is only gonna have 3 players, and two of them are noobs. should i update the stats? if i update them then the creautres will be more powerful, and if i dont then they wont have updates tactics which might help the group along...

Demon, Blood Fiend 15/good

what is 15/good? i feel like its obvious and i am being dense...

damage reduction means any weapon that deals damage that is not good aligned ignore the first 15 points on DMg

+3 bastard sword hits the demon for 17 points. it is not of good alignment so against the damage reduction the demon only suffers 2 points of dmg

now if the sword was a +3 hoy avenger and it rolled say 14 points of dmg since it is a good aligned weapon it beats the DMG reduction and causes 14 points

DR can be a serious problem for groups who may not have the correct weapon types to beat DR

also have it known that there are many different types of DR. slashing, bludgeoning, piercing, cold iron, silver are several others

If they are new to the game i'd run em through a adventure before sending them in to a mega deadly module. haven't run it myself but i have it and have prepped it for play and it's a monster

im not too worried, we're gonna work up to level ten and we're starting w/ the sunless citadel so they should have a very good idea of how the game works by level 10
Alac Luin

You mentioned three players, is there only going to be 3 charicters?

I have not run this adventure, but it is rather deadly.
These three should be higher then 10th level if there is only three of them.
(looking more like 13th level)

alrighty, ill try to get them up to 13 so they dont die as soon as they go into the underdark. im starting w/ the sunless citadel and im going to try to start the plot going there, not sure how yet

what is the overall view of CotSQ? its hard at the start but the final battle w/ ira is ridiculously easy and should be moded? or the updated version (from 3.0 to 3.5) is ridiculously hard?

I haven't run it yet, but I intend to make the last fight alot harder.
More Minions and additional levels for Irae.
