So I would normally put this in the main forum but Im running a FR campaign so it fits to put it here.

My party is:

Tiefling Swashbuckler
Drow Rouge
Svirfneblin Necromancer
Half-Troll Shaman
Gray Dwarf Fighter

Is this a good party????

A divine spellcaster is missing (they will need healing).

I believe the shaman can fill that spot.

With regard to the party, it seems to be a very valid party for adventuring. However, it is also one that would not be welcome in nearly any town but Skullport (and even that may be sticky).

It would also seem to me that the party may be of very questionalble morality, not that an evil campaign is necessarily bad. However, I would definitely make certain that the campaign and characters' backstories enable the individuals of the party to overcome their inherent distrust of each other. The Svirfneblin, Drow, and Grey Dwarf are all from very xenophobic cultures and not prone to trust nor like others.

Make sure the characters' backgrounds provide them reasons to stick together and that the players understand that the goal of the campaign is to work together cohesively... even if in pursuit of evil goals... and things should work out all right.

Sarta [/B] 3. 3. 2. 1.

1. I added the shaman after he said that It was originally a barbarian but i got the player to switch.

2. The tiefling is not an evil tiefling he does have a dishonest side however and is the finacial backer of the group due to his heritage in a wealthy waterdeep family His grandmother was a succubus in disguise and slept with and ruined a family and after her half-fiend son killed her he bore a child into the world though the rape of a wealthy heiress. After she had the child she took him as a son anyway, she was disgraced for bearing a bastard She has since become the matriarchof the house(as the only heir), she has trained him to survive in a world that Loaths him, and enjoy it. He met X'rrn(drow) and Marcus(Duegar) and found a mutual agreement and they now serve as his personal "work" force.

The Drow is a mercenary who saw more potential on the surface for his services since he had been taght surface dwellers were so well off that they threw their money at whoever got to the job first, and he intends to be first.

The Svirfneblin left the underdark because he felt cooped up.(strange for a Deep gnome but hey everyones unique.) He was invited to waterdeep by a mysterious patron who had heard of his strange heritage and said he would be paid plentifly and after spending a lifetime in poverty he was not one to say no.

The Half-troll was hired as a bodyguard for Melko(the tiefling) and they have since become great friends, he now defends melko out of loyalty rather than greed.

This Duegar hated the underdark with a passion so he left and fled He used his fighter skills to gain a reputation as a thug in calishan where he could walk in the knight with no notice then he met X'rrn(the drow) and they decided on a truce to make even more gold.

3. They stick together because they are all outcasts to society in some way, and the money

You're party looks good, and if you're looking for a sanctuary for your party(If they are good aligned or if they posess like leanings.), I could send you the details for my Orc Fighter's good-aligned nation of "Home", which accepts outcasts of any race. IMC Home is unestablished as of yet, but you could fit it in if you wished to.

EDIT: My party's equally odd. Consists of Argtoth Van Argtoth, an Ogre Barbarian(Level 6, aiming for Druid next level.); Dorn Tallstag, an Orc Fighter(Level 6, plans described above.); Daisy, a Sun Elf Cleric of Mystra(Level 3); a Drow Fighter/Wizard; and a Strongheart Halfling Fighter/Cleric of Kossuth. The Drow was scared out of adventuring for some time after almost getting killed by a Black Dragon's breath weapon. In our second adventure, the party came across a large quantity of platinum bars, and for some screy reason the Drow wants his put into gold, so he's having it taken to Waterdeep to be converted.

Just make the svirfneblin act more self assured and stronger than the drow. The drow needs to think that the svirfneblin is stronger and more powerfull than him and that he might benefit from such an ally then.

Because if the deep gnome is weaker the drow will kill him. Drow and Svirfneblin are natural enemies with a deep hate for each other. Bligdenstone was destroyed by the drow. Secondly the drow must think that he is usefull so that he won't kill him in his sleep then.

The fact is if you play an opportunistic drow make sure he sees his allies as an asset and not a liability.

As for the rest, I don't see that much of problems, good bunch of mercenaries, I only foresee an alignment clash now and then, but it shouldn't be all too disruptive.

What do you define as "good"? If you mean "balanced", then I would agree that it appears balanced. If you mean "easy to handle in game", then I think you have got a challenge; running an evil/ neutral party can be really hard, ie. keeping the evil PCs from selling out the party and keeping the chaotic/neutral & neutral/ neutral from cooperating _period_ (check out this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=244196) for info & ideas on evil parties.) If you mean "good aligned", well the answer is an obvious and resounding "No!" :P

On the other hand, if by "good" you mean "challenging and fun for the DM and players", then pose this question to your group. Honestly, not knowing you and/ or your group I don't think any of us are qualified to label your party as "good" or not.

peace and cookies.

Sounds great, except that Marcus is a terrible name for a Duergar!

I also wonder what the poster "hobbygoblin" mean with Vikings go "hinga-dinga-durgen" ??? What is that all about?
