Are the Gold and Gray dwarves labeled backwards?

It seems to me like the Gray Dwarf ought ot be a Gold Dwarf, and the Gold Dwarf ought to be a Gray Dwarf...

Thanks. I'm not an FR player, and bought the book to plunder it's crunch material (and because I got about 40% off through an Amazon offer and share the love, and then handled the rest through a gift cert), but that picture just bugged me. The book arrived today and it was the first page I opened to. I pained a mini some time back to give me a gold dwarf for an FR game that didn't pan out, and I was immediately wondering if I'd used the wrong skin tone back then. :)

Interesting note on the two human ethnicities.

Overall I like the ethnic pictures in this book more than those I saw in FRCS, but it's too bad they mislabeled them.

Yeah, I noticed that too.

I'm not sure about this. The Illuskans are described as tall, fair-skinned people, the Mulan as a little more Asian. I know the Illuskan looks so blatantly like a Red Wizard that it looks like an error, but physically, I think they got it right. Wrong costumes.
The dwarves however, are obviously wrong.

well, that kind of tall, bold thing is for sure not an Illuskan. then, the viking-style girl with her axe totally looks like it, even though she's not tall...
for me, the long-haired one with the axe is an Illuskan (for sure not an Egyptian, errr, a Mulan i mean). And the red guy is ... i don't know what, red wizard probably.

I too have been noticing a lot more typos in the products they put out. Hell, the Complete Warrior was almost completely illegible.

I'm convinced the Halflings are mislabeled as well - while there's no obvious physical differences all of the pictures are of 'typical' examples of the race. I find it a bit hard to believe that the typical Lightfoot (stealthy type) wears plate & wields a (small) greatsword while the Strongheart (martial type) is the one in leather & w/rapier...

I think all of these are wrong:

It's possible that the illuskan and the mulan humans are changed, but I'm not sure.

The gold dwarf and the gray dwarf are, in fact, changed.

The sun elf and the moon elf are also changed.

The lightfoot halfling and the strongheart halfling are changed.

????????????????????? moon elves have silver or white hair, and sun elves have brown hair. I don't see what is the problem with the pic...

Sun Elves have gold, blonde, or black hair generally...not brown.

Maybe they changed that also for the artists. :) Like drow having blue-black and grey skin tones now.

I thought it had to do with a skin condition.
Having ashy skin would take that "polished obsidian” look to a dark gray (charcoal gray perhaps)
It’s only the Nobles that can afford the expensive skin lotions.
Now, if someone can create an affordable over the counter lotion we can return all drow to the polished obsidian skin we all know and love. :D

I think the moon elf is right. As for the lighter drow, I think RB mentioned that was because it was hard to do detail with the uber black colors.

From the C:EoE 2ed suplement...

Gold Elves
Appearance
Skin: Bronze, amber
Hair: Copper, golden blond, black; rare: red
Eyes: Gold, silver, black; rare: copper, hazel

Moon Elves
Appearance
Skin: Ivory-white with blue tints (white marble)
Hair: White, silver-white, blue, black; rare: blond
Eyes: Blue, green, either with gold flecks; rare: gray

Acording to this, the moon elf is right.
Copper hair is kinda brownish.... I donno, sounds right.
I'd have to run upstairs to look at the PGtF, and I'm to lazzy to do so:)

Let's not forget that table 1-14 lists Liira's Blessing as a Vile feat.

On a minor note, the Sun Elf was completely decked out in armor, sword, shield and bow. I thought they were the wizard elves?

I said that sun and moon elfs are changed because I always thought that sun elfs tend to be more pale-skinned and blonde than moon elfs. Also, it's true than sun elfs tend to be wizards more than moon elfs as Duke Lenethar said.

I think the Moon Elf is right, but the Sun and Wood may be reversed. I don't know, the 'sun elf' just didn't feel right.
