I thought some of you might appreciate it, so here goes :). Here is the Phlan information (including shops), definately a rough draft and a work in progress... Here is the word file (I'm workin on getting this as a pdf): http://www.ralloszek.net/uploads//30667-PhlanInfo.zip And here is a map of Phlan that goes along with it... http://www.ralloszek.net/uploads//30666-PhlanMap.jpg Enjoy and any comments are more then welcome :). |

| Kuje3108-02-03, 07:45 PM | Originally posted by Arravis I normally avoid the novels... Are novels considered "canon"? Yes. :). Except there are some conflicts with the novels and the Heroes Lorebook and then what is written up in the Moonsea and the Pools of Modual. Since the Pools of Modual and the Moonsea sourcebook say Rowena lives in Denelors tower, and I believe also that this might also be in the FRCS. However, if I remember right, Shal Bal and her husband took over and live in that tower according to the novel, Heroes Lorebook, and Villan's Lorebook. But novels are canon until sourcebooks over write them. Much like what has happened with the Earthmother in the Moonshae's. There are at least two sourcebooks from 2e the conflict with other 2e and 3e sourcebooks about the Earthmother and if she returned or not and if she is Chauntea or not. I know what is written up in the FRCS also. Also, maybe I didnt' see it. But you might want to add a list at the end of the file, or some where, that list what books you got that info out of. Some of those accronyms I had no idea what they were. The PHB, the DMG, and the Arms and Eq Guide are easy enough to figure out but some of the other's I wasn't sure on. And is it 3e's Arms and Eq Guide or 2e's? |

These novels should be The events described in the novels have been used in gaming supplements which in my view "canonises" them Theres quite alot of info on Phlan in the novels, the events in the last novel Pools of Twilight occured in 1371-2 |
| Arravis08-04-03, 09:28 AM | When I picked up the original FR grey box when it was first released, one of the things I loved about it was how vague everything was... it was basicly a book of rumours and hints. Very little was solidified. As source books came out... more and more became solidified, but I could still put my own spin on things. With just the sourcebooks, there is still feels there is a good bit of creative wiggle room in there for my own individual style of DMing. Since the books also tend to capture not only information, but "flavor", I've always felt it leaves me with very little room for my own interpertation... plus, most of the FR books, in my opinion, just tend to be plain bad. Anyway... I might pick the Pool books, I'll have to give that some thought. P.S.: Is there a synopsis somewhere out there of what happened in those books? |
