As we all know, FR is probably the most written about campaign setting with the most amount of material available for it. Most of the time though, a group will arrive at a town and the DM, after preparing for this by reading through his/her books and extrapolating from 250 odd words spread over several source books some of them 2ed, will write up his/her own version of that particular place. (I wonder how many different visualisations of Hellgate there are?) It would be quite interesting to see if we are able to pool our collective creativity - maybe into this thread - into some kind of rescource where this DM created information is available. For example, my group are approaching Felbarr and, apart from the 'over view' text in the various books and an exterior map in the Silver Marches book, there is nothing more detailed about this place. I dont read the novels (i hardly have time to write, let alone read BOOKS!) so, assuming i am missing out on more information about a place because it has been visited by Drizzt at some point, I am left to flesh out the details myself. This is fine and I love it - this is the idea of the developers not providing too much info on a place, it leaves the DM a blank canvas to create his/her own version of a place of course and this is where we thrive. I have drawn a great map and written some neat details on what is actually inside of Felbarr and keyed a few establishments of interest along with the NPCs found within. The Alehouse of The Mithril Barrow is a particulary interesting establishment. When finished I would be delighted to post it for other DMs to use. I feel It would be quite handy to be able to search the Forums for another DMs version of Yartar for example should my pcs suddenly decide they have urgent business there! In the 'peoples and places - find me a map' thread, there had been some disapointing results. I therefore, am aiming (if allowed) to post my own keyed maps of Felbarr, Adbar, Heralds Holdfast and a few other places including Dark Arrow Keep (as soon as I have converted my style of writing into something a little more universal!) Yes they are unofficial and might not match up with something someone may have read somewhere I have not read, but my maps and written up places within are useable, and I am willing to share! There are some great DM created net books on the web (Silverymoon being pretty cool!) and some great links about. Anybody else want to share their own? it would be real neat to see other DMs self created information on The Inn of The Rutting Yak in Everlund or their own created map of Daerlun!
