| Gkarn09-01-03, 08:56 AM | I have posted on several boards trying to find a answer. The Player's Guide to the Forgotten Realms has a story to get new players aware of what the game is all about. Well the story is very interesting and it ended like there would be more. The author of the story is Anthony Herring. Does anyone know what happened to these characters after this? Is there more? The Characters names are. Bublim Barboast, Gnome Illusionist Esta Starchild, Elven Priestess Furian Arcanus, Half-Elf Mage-Priest Lorrick, Dwarven Warrior Samkin Silvertooth, Halfling Thief Trothgar, Human Ranger Any info will be very helpful. |

If they were prisoners in Zhentil Keep, they probably got killed when the city was destroyed. The attack at the end of the book takes place before the destruction of the northern part of the city by the monsters Cyric gathered. |

But it does say Samkin and Bublin were most likely slain. It doesn't say what happened to Esta though or if Furian ever managed to escape. However, the write up for the artifact in Volo's Guide to All Things Magical says all of them that lived were captured by the Zhent's and the Zhent's had the Tear up until the time the Keep was destroyed. And so since the Volo sourcebook is the newer two of the books, it rewrites what was in the Player's Guide. |

Which is why I said originally I assumed they died in the cells. :) |
| Gkarn09-01-03, 11:04 PM | Yes, I assumed that what the book said held true. But one never knows since there was some vague information. And one could only hope that they did get out. I liked the story and I dont have to see a happy ending. But if there was any information, i would like to have it. But it does make a good story to add to . I am trying to make a Neverwinter Night campaign, they will be the focus of the story. Trying to break into Zhentil Keep and free them. The Seekers in the story, help save a man's little girl. And since Furian did put out the bottle I will see that the bottle lands in the fathers hands (how thats another story). But the father will send out a group to get the unlucky adventures out of Zhentil keep. But if it sounds too corny or unrealistic, i will just make a story on the Battle of Bones area. But one thing about the story, it leaves alot to the imagination. |
| Kuje3109-01-03, 11:27 PM | It seems believable enough to me. It was said in the Volo's Guide that the bottle washed up in a fishermen's net and so the bottle could be found the same way or just change it to fit your story. As I said, the Tear and the rest of the story was also written up in the Volo's Guide to All Thing's Magical. I believe this is also a free book on the WOTC site if you don't have the hard copy already. Click the link below. :) http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/2/fr_downloads/tsr9535.zip |
| Thrudjelmer09-02-03, 07:28 AM | Just remember, if you need/want any of those characters alive, you could conveniently insert your own resurrection-casting cleric after the events described in the Player's Guide as bringing them back... perhaps a cleric of Selune looking for assistance in getting the Tears of Selune from whoever has them now. |
| Gkarn09-03-03, 10:44 AM | Thanks guys, I downloaded Volo's Guide and will try to piece this together. Thanks for the help and may your feet carry you to untold riches. |
| Domni Dalrose09-03-03, 11:47 AM | By Player's guide did you mean the Campaign book?? If not, I need to check into a players guide..I hadn't realized there was one for FR! :D /hopes there is!! : DOH! Did a search for it..turns out the new Player's guide is due out March 2004. :) |
| Thrudjelmer09-03-03, 01:01 PM | There was an old Player's Guide also, released during 2nd Edition. It was a story that pretty much gave lots of background fluff information to get players acquainted with the Forgotten Realms without having to read all the novels. |
| Cunning Linguist09-03-03, 01:10 PM | But this thing is comming out next year: Player's Guide to Faerun http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/fracc/886470000 I can't wait.. |
| Kuje3109-03-03, 01:39 PM | Yeah, we were talking about the old Player's Guide that came out in 2E. :). Which as was explained was a fluff story about a group of adventurers who were after a artifact of Selune's. |
