| DuskyFruit05-26-05, 10:41 AM | I've always found it funny the things a PC party can do to a well established campaign world such as Faerūn and would like to know what your FR campaigning worlds have had to endure. Here are my best example: 1) A PC party with a mayor artifact called ring of the archfiend (home made, makes evil outsiders extremely powerful) awakening a cornugon in a small devil infested forest in the vast, then the sorcerer wearing the ring of the archfiend dies and the rest of the party didn't bother to bring the ring along when they were overwhelmed by devils fled the forest. So the ring went to the cornugon lord of the forest and the cornugon began waging war against the vast, at the moment the PC party is fleeing from the vast which have been overrun by devils that now plan to go to war against cormyr, one single mistake from the PC and a new devil nation is formed on Faerūn! :uh-huh: |
| Kuje3105-26-05, 02:24 PM | Well since I started to DM in 2e, and it was core that players got to build, there are at least 3 or 4 cities that are run by ex PC's. I've added merc companies for a 3/3.5e game that was the home base for the PC's. Added tons of NPC's, magic items, mythal or two, etc. |
| Zémobiel05-26-05, 02:28 PM | me i think the most spectacular exemple of this was a evil campaign in faerun a long time ago... they had have praticly destroyed toril when using for conquest a potent magor atifact call the crown of chaos (home made too) had to say that campaign have been last for many years before arriving at this point... |
| Muddman05-26-05, 02:43 PM | Had a demon War in waterdeep Also had the Gith Yanki tried to conquer Faerun. The chosen (and pretty much any other iconic NPC) were kidnapped and their minds drained for information. Thanks to the PCs, the gith were contained to the Moonshae Isles, but their civilization was wrecked ever since (and no body missed it... oh well). The last part of the adventure was them freeing the chosen and attacking the Lich Queens base at full force. That was fun |
| Blaze the monk05-26-05, 03:16 PM | A pair of monks of the 'Long Death' completely anhiliated Thay before one turned on the other and took over the whole region. Of course the whole place was devoid of people by then but... |
| SammasterT05-26-05, 03:35 PM | By uncovering Sammaster's phylactery and a "homebrew" artifact called the Necronomicon, a single pc's actions led to the resurrection of Sammaster, the gating into Toril of Tiamat and all five of her heads, the takeover of the Darkhold, the destruction of the Sunset Vale from Hill's Edge to Hluthvar, the organization and coordination of numerous scattered Cult of the Dragon cells, the death of Azoun IV and the vandalism of Old Cormyr North, the destruction of Tilverton, the destruction of Iriaebor, and with a good possiblity that things will get much worse before they get any better. Aand just between you and me, they will get infinitely worse with umpteen number of goblinoid tribes in the Goblin Marches, Stonelands, and Cormyr's High Moor just waiting for strong, wise leadership ... like the kind dragons provide ... back in the Age of Dragons for instance. "And not shall remain save shattered thrones and dead kings. Dragons shall rule the world entire." Maglas' Prophecy |
| Tempus66505-27-05, 01:08 AM | My PC's managed to burn a quarter of the city of Arabel whilst fighting with enemy forces. They were made to pay the damage afterward. They also really, really slew Bhaal, which was the end of a very long campaign that went from level 1 in 2nd edition to epic levels in 3.5. And, much to my surprise and completely unplanned, they killed Talindra Amalith, one of the Eldreth Veluuthra leaders. It was a great gaming moment. Talindra heavily raging and taking hits round after round. She was about to drop the last PC when her rage ended and she died. |
| Rapida05-28-05, 01:33 PM | My PCs managed to get archenbridge taken over by undead, and open a planar breach in the archwood.....I think they plan to clean up both those messes. |
| Scotth06-01-05, 12:58 AM | Hi- My campaign ended today with the destruction of Nyarlathoteps Avatar and his floating fortress high above waterdeep. The players were between 17 and 21st level. They smashed into his fortress using a relic called the Orb of Ellen'tall, they destroyed the personality within and then used the Psi energy as a bomb sort of to breach the fortress. What a battle, can we say Poke-mon action? Everybody summoning this and that. Massive spell damage is being flung left and right. Might Palidins are kicking ass in the name of Helm! So after a three hour battle, three players are dead, the mage and Druid are barely alive and the fortress is falling back to Fearun. The Mage and Druid quickly gather the Bodies of their fallen commrades up and dimension door out of the Fortress, but before they reappear, the fortress slams into the City of Waterdeep and destroys Fearun! The Players are then shunted to a different world................. Scott |
| The Axeman06-01-05, 10:54 AM | We haven't done anything that spectacular, but we did help repel a joint Zhent/drow invasion of the Dales. |
| Sephyrill06-01-05, 09:53 PM | When I was playing our Planescape/Faerunian campaign we managed to save Kelemvor in the Time of Troubles, so there still is no Kel today and we have our Problems with Cyric :D what I changed when DMing came to me... well a lot. The golden tree into which the Nether scrolls were transformed never was a tree - instead the scrolls are kept by a very old moon elven Fighter/Mage living along with fey spirits in an enchanted grove in deep Cormanthor Azoud did not die yet, but the city of Shade is already there. Faerun has one more (voluntary) Ex-Chosen of Mystra (a PC) Myrkul and the Crown of Horns are forever gone A Legion of 20000 Zombies were sent to destroy temples of Cyric by undead worshippers of Myrkul - but they were stopped luckily Cyric and Jergal do have a "cold war" because of an old Artifact of Jergal Wulgreth got a nice romantic reason for going crazy about Karsus - and is now alive again together with his love (veery strange story) Oh and Sarya Dlardrageth as well as the majority of the Fey'ri were transformed back to sun elves after a looong negotiation and are now trying to resettle the empty parts of Cormanthor :D |
| Freakboy06-01-05, 10:50 PM | One of my earliest groups destroyed Suzail by accident. They had discovered an Elven High Magic Spell that summoned an army of celestials, but was incomplete and they needed it to destroy a Necropilis that had sprung up in Arabel when 13 liches cast a cooperative spell. The PC's made a number of rolls to see if they could fill in the missing pieces of the High Magic Spell without me telling them if they were successful until they cast it. As it turns out, they failed two of the five or so rolls I had them make, so I worked it out that instead of creating a celestial army to battle the necropolis, it summoned a demon army that destroyed the closest city to the casting point of the spell. As it was, the characters cast the spell near Suzail with the intention of marching on the Arabel Necropolis. So the demon army appeared and utterly obliterated Suzail and the Cormyrian royal family. In another campaign our party released a Netherese Arcanist who sent Waterdeep to a pocket dimension to prevent interference in his plans from Khelbun and Laeral (they were the patrons of the party at the time). In another I had a TPK that resulted in Silverymoon being overun by an Orc Horde after Alustriel had been incapacitated. I let the characters make a new party of high level folks with the express purpose of driving the Orcs back in that one since it was partly my fault I had the TPK. I had the dragon who organized the Orc horde hire a high level assasin to take out the PC's and he killed the parties tank in one round. After that the Dragon shapeshifted to her true form (the party thought she was just a high level wizard up til that point) and killed the partied primary spellcaster in the next round and turned the parties cleric to stone the round after that. You can see how it would go downhill from there. Their new characters drove off the Orc horde and the dragon as well as restoring Alustriel, but I sweated that one out for awhile because I hadn't intended for an Orc army to really take over Silverymoon. |
| dragonheart06-05-05, 12:59 AM | THE party took over Teshendale and drove the Zhentarim and Banites out of Zhentil Keep after Cyric Destroyed most of it. THer is now a slow war with the banites in Mulmaster and ther Citadel of the Raven on one side and the party and reconstructed dale, the fey of the border forest, the elves (including many Ellistraee converted drow) of Cormanthor, the tribes of the ride and the other free cities of the Moonsea on the other side (Except for Hillsfar which dying on the vine unwilling to throw in wiht the Banites but also unwilling to forgo its xenophobia and join wiht the "good guys". |
| Kessalin Talira06-05-05, 05:57 AM | The PC's in the campaign I'm DMing basically allowed three of the Dales to be razed by Irae T'sarran's undead army. They started on the adventure, and then just stopped and went somewhere else. A few months later, here comes this undead legion from holes in the ground, and Tasseldale, Featherdale, and I think Scardale are nothing but bone-strewn wastelands now. Granted, that's more inaction than action on the part of the PC's, but it was still brought on by them. |
