| Isno02-05-04, 04:03 PM | Forgive me if this topic belongs somewhere else. I've got a campaign that has been "on hold" for a while and I get the feeling that I'm going to need some sort of big threat, epic storyline, to get my players interested in the game again. I don't know where to start though. :( A few points: - The campaign left off in Deadsnows in the Silver Marches. - A Sharran temple is known to be located in some old ruins nearby. - An orc tribe will probably attack the small town in the near future. - Wild animals around Deadsnows have been found mutilated and ripped apart. That's basically what I have to work with. I find that my players always seem to try and recruit NPCs to help them out or get leaders to cater just for them. Obviously, I want the storyline to primarily center around them and not the NPCs, but I'm not sure exactly how to encourage them to work as a team of PCs and not diplomats trying to convince NPCs into doing their dirty work (the lead character has maxed out diplomacy). If every NPC says "No" to the PCs, it seems as if they care little for their own futures, but if it's "Yes" everytime, they assume that they can walk over everyone to get what they want. Any help is appreciated. |

They get promoted to captains in the legion and are given magical arms appropriate for their new station. The PC's should run into them frequently and get it rubbed in their faces. If the PC's start anything, the captains summon guards to defend them (not that they really need it with all their new training) and have the PC's jailed. The PC's have to stand trial for assault on a legion officer--they are blacklisted by all SM cities and their trade guilds. They have to pay hefty fines and publicly apologize, then they are exiled. Have a nice career. |

| Selcar Of Selendar02-07-04, 02:38 PM | Ok from the points you gave out i think i got somthing. The sharren temple is useing the orcs as a destraction from there real plan. The temple is getting lycans ( sorry been watching Underworld for a munth now) good one and converting them to sharr and if they dont they die. now to explain the wild animals. they have found a old relic that can trap a lycan in its form. But not it's wear form. so a ware dog would be traped as a dog. and then they kill them. And they are doing this to go and take out temples of Selun with an army of lycans. i know it's not much but it's somthign to work with |

I'm thinking a ranged touch attack with sort of a Soul Trap effect after a difficult WILL save. Basically it temporarily separates the target's soul from their body and puts them on the Astral (or some other non-specific plane). This only works against creatures using the wrong body like those polymorphed, possessed, or transformed. Once slain, the sould is disconnected from the world. It *could* have even been created with the best intentions--to remove demonic spirits who possessed someone. There should be a number of ways to communicate with the slain creatures for the simple reason that they died as an animal with no spirit and their soul is no longer bound to its body--they are still around, just not "here". BTW, the now Astral form could be planeshifted or could use a portal back to the Prime and should be 'cured' of their lycanthropic curse. |
| Dargoth02-07-04, 07:50 PM | Ok obviously youve got the Silver Marches source book so Ill suggest you tie the Telkouns Tower adventurer into the plot (the modules not that far away from Deadsnow) maybe make the Half Fiend allied with the temple of Shar in the Deadsnow mines, maybe make Telkoun a Shadow wizard. or maybe Telkoun has one of Shars avatars trapped in the Stasis Sphere (the module says Demon Prince but we can change it) so maybe the the Half Fiend and Temple of Shar are adversarys with the church of Shar trying to release the avatar |
