Gotta blow off some steam....

There is a poll over at enworld (http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=73994) on "what campaign setting you use". As always FR is kicking everyone elses butt except the home brewers. I'm curious if anyone else here browses that forum.
I've been known to post over there, and get irate when threads start about different campaign settings and the (not this particular thread but others) FR bashers start in. I dont know why this bothers me. :) Mostly its just the ignorant ones. The ones who truly have their problems with it and say so with the knowledge of the setting to back them up I have no problem with.

I browse and post fairly regularly over at ENWorld, and while I agree, I've seen FR bashing there, I've always felt it was relatively mild. Then again, if I start to sense a thread is turning to a diatribe, I sometimes click the mouse button and move on as it can get pretty nasty over there on certain topics (BOEF and BOVD immediately come to mind).

That being said, without even looking at the thread, let me guess what might be negatively being said about FR..

"It's too high in magic."

"It's too NPC heavy."

"It destroyed/ruined support for Greyhawk."

Those three are ones I've heard before.

An opinion that FR has too much magic (or what have you) for a particular player's tastes doesn't have to constitute "bashing." You have to allow room for reasonable people's tastes to differ on such matters. There's no need to be overly defensive.

Just saying.

Things like too much this or too little that are just opnions and everyone has them. That doesnt bother me at all. If that type of thing weren't there I wouldnt have anytyhing to argue about.
