| Shi'ar Morpheus01-16-06, 09:34 PM | This thread is for everyone to post their campaign ideas. I know there's already a similar thread but that one seems to have digressed off point alittle too much. So I'll start things off. Here's my campaign and ultimate idea so far: A disgraced Purple Dragon Knight has fallen under the influence of Asmodeus, the Lord of Hell. Asmodeus has usurped the power of Myth Drannor and has used it to end the Blood War, uniting the lower planes in a massive army. Asmodeus and several other Archdevils and Demon Princes wish to once again emerge onto the Faerunian scene and assume their rightful places as the true gods of the Realms. However, the fiends were long ago banished by the elves of Myth Adofhaer, which faded into stasis to await the return of this immense evil. In the meantime, the knowledge of the archfiends has been kept alive in the form of a super-secret cult. This cult is the source of corruption for the Purple Dragon Knight. Coincidentally, the former knight is also the twin brother of the PC leader, and the two are also bastard children of the late Azoun IV. When the former Purple Dragon Knight begins assembling a band of dangerous criminals, Cormyr asks the PCs to find out what it is he's up to. Eventually, the PCs end up in a race against bad guys to recover twin blades that hold the essences of two forgotten gods (Asmodeus and maybe Bahamut). When the purple dragon knight recovers Asmodeus' blade, his corruption is complete and Asmodeus has once again gained a foothold in Faerun. With the return of the devil, Myth Adofhaer also returns. When the PCs investigate in the High Forest, they find the lost city. But thanks to the workings of the knight, the elves have remained in stasis and are being slaughtered by various fiends. Eventually, the PCs rescue the elven prince and he joins them to destroy this great threat. Ultimately, the story arc peaks in Myth Drannor, where the bad guys have arrived to use the Gatekeeper's Crystal to open a Pool of Radiance and draw the fiends back into the Realms. Interestingly, the crystal is the same weapon that Vangerdahast used (or misused!) when Tilverton was destroyed. I'm currently planning on having the bad guys succeed. And when the fiends emerge through the portal, their passage corrupts all of the local land, transforming the Dalelands into Ravenloft, with each Dale ruled by a Darklord of my choosing. (As it turns out, when Asmodeus was banished, he created the realm of Ravenloft as sort of a toy land where he could adequately express his displeasure at being exiled). So how's it sound? Please share. |

The "Dark Powers" were obviously weaker than the Gods, but more powerful than most fiends and adventurers. Asmodeus is a good fit. |
