I can't find my FR books lately but I wanted to know the details on the potion belt (I think it's in the core FR book). I wanted it for a pc in our SL game but the gm wasn't familiar with the item. He wanted to charge me 1000gp for it which I thought was way too much. Can anybody help me out with more info on the potion belt (cost, etc.).
thanks,
Frank

It holds six potions. Weighs 1 lb., costs 1gp - unless Masterwork, the it costs 60gp.
1000 gp...? Hmmm....

-1000 GP? Hm, talk about war profiteering.

-Here's what you should do. First, get a normal ol' belt. Next, pick up a few strips of leather- not too much. Next, spend the next couple of hours or so, making sure you Take 20 while doing so, using your leather working skill to fasten the small leather loops onto your belt. Now, you have your own homemade Potion Belt. And, if you are ever low on GP, you can be the one selling it for 1000 GP!

Thanks!
Hopefully I won't have to donate blood for quick cash after the gm reads the actual cost of the potion belt!
BTW, how much extra would it be for a Masterwork Potion Belt? Is there any reason to have MW as opposed to just as is?

A masterwork potion belt hold 10 potions and costs 60gp, as opposed to a regular potion belt that holds 6 potions and costs 1gp. Both weigh 1 pound.

You have to be able to make a Masterwork version to add some loops on the other side of the belt (and not even twice as many, just four more), and then you get to chart 60 times as much?

Boy, are adventurers in the wrong business...

-Heh, donating blood. Well, that certainly opens some new possibilities in a D&D campaign. Never thought of that one.

-As for why to have a Masterwork Potion Belt? To brag to your adventurer friends? I don't really know. Perhaps the MW version has better stats, such as HP, or hardness, or whatever. You know, something to make it last longer. And, you could also lay enchantments on it, if the belt is Masterwork.

That's it!! I am handing in my blades for a store front!!
"Evergreen's Everfull Expensive Establishment" is open for business!
This adventuring thing is much too dangerous compared to the money from selling adventuring equipment.

-I don't know. The average NPC Peasant hardly makes any money. I'm not sure how much the average NPC Merchant makes. But, in the end, Adventurers always make the most money. Sure, there's the risk and danger not associated with the other two, but adventuring has the highest chances for a huge payoff.

Hehehehe:) You could always make it an Potion Belt of Holding or Potion Belt of Giant Strength or something. Spellcasters could always use such a thing:)

-That's exactly what I was thinking. Enchant the belt so that, as soon as you pull one potion from it's place, another one- stored in an extradimensional space- immediatley takes it's place. It'd prove useful...

Why do you think smart adventurers turn into merchants? as with teh goldrush days the real money was made not by the initial miers but by the folks selling them food and equipment - sometimes for shares of the gold they found (grubstaking). Its always a good adventure hook too - first you tax away all their gold (or let them spend it in a spree at exorbitant prices) then you supply them with a stake of essential equipment for 10-20% of what they get if they succeed. If they do you are richer wihtout the effort. If they try to stiff you, you spread the woerd amongst all the merchants and suddenly their gold is worthless or the prices are even more exzorbitant and they cann't get a grubstake next time - they may be dumb but once or twice of this and they learn. If they die well waht are you out? a little food and cheap gear easily replaced away from the exorbitant prices. :D If your jsut too much of an adrenilin junkie then you run caravans for others and yourself for the rush of dealing with bandits, etc.
Enchant the belt so that, as soon as you pull one potion from it's place, another one- stored in an extradimensional space- immediatley takes it's place.
I believe there is already an item like this more or less - the belt of many pouches - has 12 pouches visible but each actually opens onto any of 12 additional extra dimensional spaces holding 1cu.ft of material or 1 pound of material which ever is greater. By concentrating on a pouch you make it move to the top and be the one you open. weight - 1 pound even when full (144 pounds of material components, coins, gems, potions, scrolls, you name it. :)
I think this is proba bly what your DM was thinking of as I believe it has a price of about 1000GP or maybe several K GP.

The Ultimate Potion Belt is the Belt of Many Pockets.
Several of my characters have one, and they put scores of wands and potions in there.
