| King_Neckchopper04-18-07, 04:19 PM | I started this post in another thread but so far got one response. Does anyone know if manifester level can take the place of caster level when it comes to Liches? |
| MarkusTay6304-18-07, 04:28 PM | I remember that in 2e there were psionic Liches, but I'm not even sure if they still exist in 3e. Are you trying to figure out psionic abilities for a standard Lich? |
| King_Neckchopper04-18-07, 04:39 PM | No. I wanted to have a lich cohort but to add flavor to the whole thing, i thought of a psionic lich because my Character's Diety is Psionic, and he works directly for her. I know that there are mindflayer liches but they have arcane caster levels. And I remember there were psionic liches somewhere but I may be getting confused with the Mindflayer liches. I just need to know if I can substitute the caster level requirement with a manifester level. |
| MarkusTay6304-18-07, 04:57 PM | Okay, reading the section on Psionic Liches in 2e Van Richten's Guide to the Lich, it says that for the most part they are very similar to regular Liches outwardly, and have psionic diciplines rather then Spells. I don't see why you couldn't do the substitution you suggest, because most of the mechanics for handling them are the same. There is one cool difference though, rather then the aura of fear that the standard Lich gets, the Psionic Lich generates a confusion effect called 'Mind Struck'. It makes it difficult to concentrate, and all rolls are made at -2 and spells take twice as long to cast. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but there really aren't any hard-and-fast rules for what you are trying to do. |
| King_Neckchopper04-18-07, 05:02 PM | the help you are giving me is greatly appreciated. |
| lavekkia04-18-07, 05:57 PM | There are some equivalent of psionic lich made by fans in the Psionic boards; there also some books NOT from WoTC that deal specifically with the issue. That's definitely a question for the Psionic boards |
| Karsus the Mad04-18-07, 07:19 PM | I started this post in another thread but so far got one response. Does anyone know if manifester level can take the place of caster level when it comes to Liches? Same response as I gave there:) Monte Cook made a psionic lich template. I haven't used it or even checked it out since I don't use psionics, but it might be what you're looking for. http://boards1.wizards.com/leaving.php?destination=http://www.montecook.com/cgi-bin/page.cgi%3Fmpress_TCKpreview Btw: 46 minutes for a response isn't that long of a wait...it's a forum, not instant messenger. It usually takes a bit of time to get responses:) Typically 24 hours or more, which is why the thread bumping is allowed only once per day. Patience my young apprentice :emp: |
| Dielzen04-18-07, 08:14 PM | Just as a friendly warning, posting the same thing on multiple boards is a no-no. That said, there's this thing called "magic psionic transparency" - this boils down to manifest level = caster level |

Won't happen again and in the furure I'll be more patient. Karse the Mad, thanks I think this will work. I still have to look at it but my DM loves Monte Cook. So I at least know that this is acceptable. |
