| bat14107-19-03, 01:49 PM | I know that there is a new book coming out but can we get some teasers from an "in the works" feature or a "3.5 revision" feature on the realms. We would love to see some previews and would never gripe about them. It is safe to show them to us.:smirk: |
| Thrask the Gnoll07-19-03, 05:08 PM | Unapproachable East is already 3.5 compatible. I doubt we'll see any sneak previews of the FR player's guide until closer to it's release time next year. |
| Arandar07-23-03, 06:32 AM | Hopefully they won't make a new Campaign Settings book for FR until 4.0. |
| Neblin of the Green07-23-03, 09:47 AM | I'm probably one of the few, that isn't too impressed with them releasing 3.5 so early. If their gonna release FRCS in 3.5, it will make all the latest books hard to adapt to the blokes with the older 3 systems. Or am I just paranoid? |

Well I don't think you're "one of the few" at all, as it seems to me that most intelligent gamers understand that 3.5 is little more than a money making stunt. That being said, there are definitely many good things about the 3.5 rules themselves, just as long as you recognize that there will be be a new version of D&D every three years regardless of necessity. Anyway, back on topic: I'm pretty sure that the Player's Guide to Faerun will be a sort of transition book between 3.0 and 3.5. Even though there really aren't too many things in the past 3.0 FR sourcebooks that need to be converted, I'm sure we'll see a few FR web updates also. |
| Gibberinghorde07-23-03, 12:41 PM | I personally would like them to leave FR alone. I just got a look at the supposed 3.5 books at my local store and was greatly disappointed. To me all they did was tweak a couple things, add 10 or 20 pages of material and print out a new 30 dollar book. This is something they could have easily have done on the internet with web enhancements but they got a little greedy and had make a big deal about 3.5, wippedy doo! :( |
| primemover00307-23-03, 09:15 PM | Ultimately only a few things did change, but those that did were pretty big. It's a good fix for the most part, but many people are going to House Rule alotta stuff. Of course Players are going to b**** the most about the "spell Nerfs" or the "feat Nerfs" or the blabbity-blah-blah Nerfs... Most DM's will take most things a s good changes that were definitely needed. I personlly like the spells now. |
| Faeryl Zauvirr07-24-03, 01:33 AM | There really isn't too much that needs to be updated in the FRCS. Only the PrC, NPC stats and the short creature section needs a review. Not forgetting that their already is an updated version of the red wizard in the 3.5 DMG. I am sure they could just make it a web enhancement, even if it has to be a rather large one. |
| Dargoth07-24-03, 02:01 AM | All the monsters in "Monsters of Faerun" will need updating |
| Another Gnome07-24-03, 02:24 AM | To me all they did was tweak a couple things, add 10 or 20 pages of material and print out a new 30 dollar book. They added 190 pages in total. While buying the revised books will cost that $30 more than the original 3.0 printing, there's added material enough to make the revision effectively four books instead of three when compared to the original page count. * * * With regard to converting FRCS, I wouldn't pay for the Player's Guide to FR if the conversion was all there is to it, but on the other hand I am willing to pay just to get the cosmology info. Regardless, future Realms stuff will be written for revised rules whether we like it or not, so I won't have a problem switching over because of FR. And I'm still going to get books written for 3.0 rules because of the non-rule content in them, converting stuff myself where needed. Come to think of it, it's been a long while since I've altered anything without consulting to official errata, so I'm actually looking forward to it... |

As you don't need to buy anything to go from 3.0 to 3.5, I personally find this hard to believe. Sure, if you want the spiffy pictures, and filler text, then you can pay, but the 3.5 SRD is pretty detailed, especially when compared to how limiting the 3.0 SRD was. Now, usually, I'd agree with you on this, as I'm not a fan of standard big buisness tactics, but WotC did the gamers right this time... |
| The Sin of a Drow07-26-03, 12:48 AM | newbie seeking any and all help. |
| VengefulGazeofGod07-26-03, 03:13 AM | Be more specific..., what help do you seek? |
| kidjay7607-26-03, 01:30 PM | Having bought the 3.5 stuff, I can say that while I see the necessity for a lot of these rules changes, I'm sorely disappointed at the lack of new artwork. Lack of the latter makes it really feel like a reprint rather than a major release. I sincerely hope the FRCS isn't reprinted. I can do the conversion fine on my own, thank you, and speaking for myself only, I value the FRCS for the region descriptions, detail, cosmology and 'realmslore' rather than items that relate to game mechanics. From my point of view, there's absolutely no need to roll out another FRCS, and I certainly won't buy it if they do release it. I'm already ****** off that they went and reprinted Realms-specific prestige classes like Red Wizard in the 3.5 core set. What's up with that? |
| Desies07-26-03, 01:50 PM | speaking of prestige classes in the new DMG...did anyone catch a glimpse of the new duelist pic? Is it a girl or a guy? I think it's a chick but it's the ugliest one on the planet! |
| The Sin of a Drow07-26-03, 02:40 PM | well i'm new i have never played and i have no clue on what i need. But i'd like to play and i have read some FR books and have played Dark Alliance. But i'd also like to play the D&D Campaign Setting for FR. |
| The Sin of a Drow07-26-03, 02:51 PM | explain to me what a duelist is. |
