Is the Players Guide to Faerun a book full of new material or is it Forgotten Realms Campaign setting v3.5?

Does this new book make the Campaign setting book obsolete?

I noticed in the art galery there is a monster manual section...the book isnt just for players then is it?

The PGtF is not a revised FRCS! According to the PGtF author interview found on WotC's FR page, the book is about 45% new material.
No. It revises the Regional Feat system found in the FRCS and updates several feats, spells and PrC's to 3.5 standards. It has almost zero information on the actual regions of the setting.
The book is for Players and DMs. Note that the monster section was taken out and will be added into another FR product later this year or early next year. Also, there will be multi-page section that deals specifically with the Planar Cosmology of Faerūn, which is almost wholly DM material.

You should click on the big FR banner at the top of this page. It will take you to the FR Main Page which has links to articles on the PGtF that will answer most of your questions.

Can't wait to get this book!

Most of the questions about the PGTF including relevant links can be found here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=193907) I think it owuld help avoid repeating the same questions if we stick to using the one thread :)

Make FRCS obsolete? No.

I would say, from what Ive heard, that it might make it obsolete to players at your gaming sessions, as you will mainly use it as geographic and historical reference.
