DM's - I am just about to run my group through CotSQ. I have a couple questions about the first encounter with the vampires.

If the PCs are able to break the door - or find some other means of getting it open. How much natural sunlight pervades the room? The opening flavor text states that the buildings are in the shadows of the hills. Would the vampires in the room be affected by the door being opened? I realize that time of day is important - so my question should be viewed that even at max sun height, what would be the amount that could enter this room?

Can a knock spell open the door? I think yes because the spell says that "The knock spell opens stuck, barred, locked, held, or arcane locked doors." and the door descriptor calls it 'stuck'. Let me know if you have ruled differently.

Thanks

sounds reasonable to me. I'd also assume that if the buildings are in the shadow of the hill that the vampires in the back of the room will not go into any sunlight that might filter into the room (which won't be much).

@Gilgamet:
I ruled that the doorstep is sunlit, but the interior rest of the mausoleum is dark.
Chahir fought the PCs until they realized to just GET OUT of the mausoleum to survive... The cleric then had cast some searing light, and then Chahir was gone. The Door was not bypassed by "Knock"(It would work, nonetheless) but indeed a dwarven barbarian who bashed the door right open.
Well...
