rottenking82 03-30-04, 11:30 AM	I was reading one of the concise timelines on the web for FR and I read around 1371 DR when the whole <i>Evermeet: Isle of Elves</i> took place, that elven high magic was lost. I read the book but I don't quite remember that happening. So does that mean that Elven High Mages are just epic level spellcasters without the ability to create mythals (or epic level spells as according to the entry in <i>Races of Faerūn</i>)?

While Elven High Mages are and should be incredibly rare in the extreme, the PGtF presents the Gift Of Alliance and Starshine Upon The People elven high magic epic spells, showing that such spells are still possible in the Toril of today. But that's still no excuse for Elven High Mages suddenly sprouting like weeds, and casting epic spells whenever they feel like it.

But yeah, I agree, Elven High Mages should be exceeding rare, especially given the events that took place in Evermeet: Isle of Elves and The Return of the Archwizards trilogy. Hell, epic characters should be rare as it is. Isn't Epic Spellcasting limited in Faerūn though? After the whole Karsus affair?
