I haven't read any of R.A. Salvatores books. I hear from all of my friends that he pretty good and have a unique ability to get you "hooked" on his works. I can see that he is the best-selling blah blah...
I've just finished the second book in the Erevis Cale Trilogy and I can't wait untill the third is coming! I've read Elaine Cunningham, Ed Greenwood and others, but noone got me so hooked as Paul S. Kemp did! Are there anybody that have read both about Erevis Cale and the R.A. Salvatore??
Who is the best?

I'm afraid novel discussions aren't allowed on these forums, specifically to avoid the type of literary criticism that a topic like this would inevitably generate. Referencing novels as sources of Lore is okay, discussing them and/or thier authors as works of literature is not. Expect this thread to be deleted quite soon.

Especially when you're inviting people to say 'author X is worse than author Y'.

Obviously it isn't possible to say which author is 'best', though you can talk about who is technically more proficient, more to your liking, more faithful to the setting, etc. But better, surely, to appreciate each on their own merits.

But not here. Try Candlekeep (http://www.candlekeep.com/forum/default.asp).

In my opinion, Richard Baker is the best Forgotten Realms author. His Last Mythal series is freakin' AWESOME! Great characters and great villains. Best thing is, NO CHOSEN! I wish every FR series was as good as this one is.

With the exception of Storm Silverhand, who makes a notable appearance..

True Bastek, you got me on that one, but at least her role was not pivotal.

I so want to risk getting banned stating my opinion about the various books mentioned in this thread.

I will be a good boy, I will be a good boy.

I think RAS can beat KB in a fight, I mean remember those back pictures of authors showing RAS wielding a sword :P

They're both excellent, I think.

RA Salvatore has a website here: RA Salvatore's Website (http://www.rasalvatore.com/) RAS has just started up another interactive thread on his forum. :)

Paul S. Kemp has a blog here: Paul S. Kemp's Blog (http://www.livejournal.com/users/paulskemp/) PSK has posted his GenCon Schedule and regularly interacts with visitors to the blog.
