Races of Faerun book OOP?! [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-28-06, 06:11 PM Just wondering why. I was looking around to see what sort of deal I could get on the internet only to find that it is out of print. Is there a future races book in the works, or did they just decied that enough is enough with regards to re-printing it?

09-28-06, 10:18 PM I believe Races of Faerun is a 3.0 book, which is why it is out of print.

09-28-06, 11:55 PM Races of Faerun is actually a transitional book (essentially 3.25 :)), released while 3.5 was in development, and containing much of the intended spirit of the revision. Nothing in the book is so far from 3.5 as to cause any probles, and I think all of the feats are considered up to date (In fact the Players Guide to Faerun references many of the feats and prestige classes from RoF, indicating they are officially up to snuff.)

I highly recommend getting the book. Its just about my favorite 3E Realms book, right up there wiith the FRCS and Lost Empires of Faerun.

10-03-06, 12:05 AM It is indeed a great piece of gaming material. I use it almost all the time in game setting and for game balance and just plain what there feats alow.. take this the fay'ri are able to alter self to any humanoid. Reading the rules on the 3.5 alter self and you will see that they broke it up to humanoids turing into only humanoids, monsterous humanoids turning into other monsterous humanoids ect and ect. But my point is .. why would the races of faerun make such a point to say that fay'ri would break the rules for 3.5 because native outsider can turn into any native outsider only. If only to make the point clear that they had full intentions of puting this source book out and allowing the people to use it while 3.5 was being made and beyond.

source rules books by and by make points often to contradict core rules so that when the power would be used it would be unique. Fay'ri can not use there powers of alter self to change thier normal shape in any way shape or form they are all natural when they fly. No angels out of devils

10-03-06, 08:02 PM I found one on e-bay for a reasonable price. A had a chance to thumb through my friends copy. As there was way too much info I wanted ,too much to simply copy what I wanted which I normally won't do unless I can not get my own hard copy, I was lucky enough to find one on my own. And I am with you Lord Karsus, I can't believe it is oop either.

10-04-06, 01:51 AM It's mostly fluff, so you still get most of your money's worth even if the prcs/feats etc are a tad outdated.:)

10-10-06, 08:52 AM Amazon is the only way to go to buy books, that or NobleKnight games, either one. I just got Realmspace(Spelljammer sourcebook for FR) for ten bucks...great deal hehe.
