Ansroth 08-26-03, 01:49 PM	I would like to know if anyone has worked out a real world to Forgotten Realms calendar since the original campaign setting was published. According to FRCS page 260 the Forgotten Realms will be advanced 2 months for every 5 months of real time. The current date at publication is Shieldmeet, 1372DR. For every 1 day in the Realms 2.5 days passes in real time. The original Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (1E) was published in 1987 and the campiagn year was 1356DR. I don't remember the "date" the original campaign was supposed to start. Any information would be helpful. Thanks! :D

Thanks! :D Well the problem with what was written in the FRCS is after the cut backs and layoffs, the advancement that was written in the FRCS fell behind. However, the current realms year is now 1373, since the last Sembia novel, Lord of Stormweather, progressed the date to the new year, and that just came out here in 2003.
Chronic Alcoholic 08-26-03, 05:49 PM	Also it says in CotSQ that Randal Morn has ruled Daggerdale for more then 4 years and he took control in 1369 DR it's later then that time in 1373 DR.
Ansroth 08-27-03, 10:26 AM	Thanks for the information.:) The reason I'm inquiring about this is I have a cross-over campaign (16 years and still going) where the PC's are originally from mundane earth and one of my PC's is powerful enough to create a portal to come "home" for some of the other PC's that want to return. According to the information provided in the FRCS book 30 Months Earth = 12 Months FRCS. This would mean that for the 17 years in FR 42.5 years have passed on earth and the current date would be 2029.5. Any further thought? All help would be appreciated!

Well, you could REALLY screw with them, and have them run into a bunch of Terminators - Skynet took over by this time... :D But seriously, a good model to follow would be the technological accomplishments of the recent film Minority report, minus the telepaths. Sufficiently "future," but without making it so far future that it's unrecognizeable.
