What have you incorporated from Frostburn into your Forgotten Realms campaign? What don't you think fits?

A friend of mine still DM's in the FR & he thinks that Frostburn is the best thing ever to happen to the Witches of Rashemen. Ice magic seems tailor made for them.

I would also think that worshipping Auril just became 100000 times more appealing.

It's all about Auril. I run a campaign in the Cold Lands, and consider Northern Vaasa onwards to be frostfell terrain. The monsters are common up there, and the ice magic is perfect for Iyraclea and her minions. I'm not so fond of the locations, but I'm sure others might like 'em.

You know I have Frostburn and while I could see the uses I just can't wrap my head around taking that book out of the bag. I have shown my players it and encouraged them to use it and they don't like it either.
The book is just too specific for me.

I just love frostburn, and im itching into throwing my players into some frostfell adventures.
I am having problems placing it close to any current game however. Since they are all running in either Halruaa, Anuaroch or Phlan. But looking at the map, there are huge areas of ice up north, all of whom fit perfect for this book. Adding the snow elf or the Ice gnome into my game would not be hard. The neanderthal would (like richard baker said) be perfect for the places like the tortured lands. Tundra halfling and Uldra would be somewhat harder, since I almost never use "small" races in my game. None of my players want to play them and I don't find them useful at all.

Rimfire witch, with a few mods, is perfect for the Auril cleric. New spells and items, always fun throwing at the players.

Icerazer also sounds like fun.

All in all, Frostburn is the perfect book for any DM or player who has played Icewind dale 1 and 2 (and Heart of Winter exp) and loved it. I don't think there would be any problem with using almost anything from that Frostburn book into a Icewind Dale type adventure.

I used it content from Frostburn against my PCs as they were traveling near Karse. Had Wizard Weather blow a blizzard across them in the middle of summer, and threw some of the big nasty critters in there at them. They were quite upset, especially the ones that thought they could ignore cold damage :smirk: only to run into special cold damage.

Holy cow!

I'm starting run that now but scaled down for a 13th level party. I'm using Mirabar as a jumping off point to head into the Endless Ice sea.

What did you do differently?

What is Dzoulin's Cradle, Gallads Garden and the the Dragonholes?

Just curious if you know, they're on my FR Atlas....

Well I was thinking the whole Frozenfar/Endless Ice Sea for a romp. Lots of Frostgiants, Auril, orcs etc to cause all kinds of trouble.

Who would be a good replacement for Hleid? Or is she in the FR Pantheon?

Not sure, sorry. But I'm looking through the old material. :) If you didn't know there was a 2e sourcebook on the Great Glacier as well but its one of the ones most people didn't care for.

I did find this online:

http://ds.dial.pipex.com/town/pipexdsl/o/aowj33/nj/data/Places/EndlessIceSea.htm

Also from:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/wn/20011121a

"Instead, Arauthator concentrates on carving ever-deeper tunnels into the Endless Ice Sea and the rock beneath, devouring all subterranean creatures he finds (chiefly gnomes), to unearth his own gem and mineral treasure, and protect his realm against attack from below by exterminating all possible attackers. These forays seem to attract remorhaz from the vast glacial areas that lie north of the Spine of the World, and Arauthator fights an ongoing battle against the iceworms, devouring all of the remorhaz he defeats. Northern giants and gnomes refer to these delvings as the Dragonholes and report that they consist of at least six separate tunnel complexes spread over a wide area north of the dragon's lair."

I have a party of high level guys that I want to take to Vaasa, Frostburn will work quite well there I think. I'm also running a 5th level campaign based in Waterdeep. Frostburn will work perfectly in the north. Especially that big iceberg city. Once my PCs are high enough level, I'll be incorporating that in some way.

It wouldn't be hard to do something with the Glacier of the White Worm....

I can't remember where I read it, but wasn't there something about Auril wanting to bring winter to the Silver Marches permanently? What if there were epic spellcasting either clerics, shamans, or magic users that took that to heart and starting casting Ice Age all over the place? What if they started gradually moving southward, with an army of orcs and frost giants behind them? That could get ugly.

I like that idea for the remote Vaasa/Damara region. Not enough seems to go on there. Plus its remote enough that such a gathering would go unnoticed until it was too late. Plus what if Sossal were somehow involved? There's a good place to Dm and develop on your own.
Hmm, great ideas...damn, I want my high level campaign back!
