my question is pretty much summed up in the title, i'm wondering which Region of faerun would be most likely to produce a ninja.
please do not flame this with anti-Ninja remarks...i'm entertaining the idea of running a ninja and would like to know which region would make for a believable homeland for a ninja (i've ruled out The North and Cormyr :D ),
i'm guessing somewhere in the east, such as Aglorond(i think that's how it's spelled) or thay would be good bets, but i'd still like to hear from the nice people that frequent these boards. thanks

Unless it has changed much since 1st edition, Aglarond is an human/elf/half-elf country ruled by the Simbul. As far as I know it has no Eastern feeling, that would more be something for the lands of Kara-Tur, but I don't think they made it to D&D v3.x.

Right. Ninja come from Kozakura (a Japan analogue) in Kara-Tur (which hasn't been detailed under 3E, but is certainly still attached to the Realms). Aglarond and the rest of the Unapproachable East has nothing to do with ninja.

Unless you want to just use the ninja mechanics to represent some kind of Faerūnian assassin order, but you'd have to develop your own background for that.

Thay was Ed's original conceptualization of a 'strange, magical East.' It's not Earth's idea of this, but rather this is Faerun's version. That hardly means it has ninjas, samurai, or shugenja, though; it has Red Wizards, Priests of Kossuth, and Thayan Knights.

Wa and Kozakora (SP?) of Kara-Tur. Maybe That town in the east, Tesh? It has some Kara-tur people in it.

The Shou Expatriate region, which is a sub-region of Thesk. They are people who have left/fled from Kara-Tur and its outlands fleeing the Tuigan Horde.
