| Paradisio11-16-05, 04:04 PM | I'm just starting off and the character equipment/feats selection is a bit confusing. There is equipment listed for race and region. If I a sun elf from evermeet do I get one from each or just one from both? If I am a race that isn't from my favored region, do I still get the ones listed under race or do I need to be from my favored region to get anything? Thanks |
| Mula11-16-05, 08:57 PM | Are you using Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting or Player's Guide to Faerūn? |
| Darth_Azalin11-16-05, 09:05 PM | of the regional feats your allowed those.. but you can only have 1 regional feat.. and for equipment you can have a "row" like A, B, or C |
| Paradisio11-16-05, 09:42 PM | Ahh didnt realize the PGTF had an updated version |
| dragonheart11-16-05, 09:47 PM | for most of the feat and equipment related stuff its either/or you get one eihter regional or racial - your choice. for equipment its much the same either regional or racial but not both (unless you can make a real good case to the DM at least). |
| Paradisio11-16-05, 10:00 PM | Heh I am the DM ;p I'm trying to learn this stuff, and teach everyone else in the campaign about it (in an online campaign no less) all it once. |
| Paradisio11-17-05, 12:25 AM | What region would be good for 1st level characters? I wanted to be in Silver Marches, so something not too far away. But silver marches itself seems way too inhospitable for a low level party. |
| Darth_Azalin11-17-05, 01:00 AM | Well just because your born there doesnt mean you stay there... In the campaign I DM.. I had the guy make a battle sorcerer (Human) (using UA variants) and then take the regional feat of Mind over body with the casting of his familiar and granting him a toad.. and taking 2 flaws at first level.. he has like 15 hps at first.... |
| Paradisio11-17-05, 01:16 AM | Did I ever say they had to? I'm just looking for good regions for 1st level characters to adventure in I'm not doing flaws, everyone always takes the same two and it just seems to encourage min-maxxing. |

The North, High Forest, Anauroch, Silver Marches, Western Heartlands, and Sword Coast are all reasonable Regions for a character to be from. Any other regions would require more of a background as to why the character is there. |
| Darth_Azalin11-17-05, 04:50 AM | which 2 does your group always take... Mine are learning the negatives of taking the double roll on concealment... But I truely believe that you should allow some.. For one when I play a melee fighter that will under no conditions fire range weapons I always take the negative for range... makes sense... |
| Paradisio11-17-05, 02:18 PM | Inattentive and murky eyed. I'm not asking what regions they should be from Im asking where should the campaign take place to start off at, since silver marches is too high level IMO. |
| Darth_Azalin11-17-05, 02:49 PM | the ones that my people take are murky eyed and shaky? or the one that gives negatives to range attacks one did take negatives to spot and that group because his famaliar reduced it greatly... |
| Demetrios11-17-05, 03:58 PM | I'm not asking what regions they should be from Im asking where should the campaign take place to start off at, since silver marches is too high level IMO. It really isn't. I'm currently running a game in the Silver Marches, and the characters started at level 1 and just on Sunday made level 3. |

Too HIGH!?! Where did you get that ideal from? I started a campaign in Daggerford at 1st level, yes it is more properly the Sword Coast or Western Heartlands, but location doesn't mean a thing as far as difficulty level goes. A DM can run a campaign in the Dalelands starting at 1st level, just so long as the PCs aren't insistent upon marching straight into Myth Drannor. :D I started off with several low level adventures, one was to investigate some mines in the nearby area, on the way to which the PCs were forced to take shelter in a Cairn. After finding out what happened to the miners, they had a lead to the boss of the evil cleric that killed the miners that lead them to the crypts below an abandoned monastery in the Fallen Kingdom. Which will lead them to other locations, or they can just head off to investigate any number of other places. Would say more, but some of my players visit the forums. Characters are as follows: 1 5th Moon Elf Cleric from Silver Marches 1 4th Wood Elf Ranger from the High Forest 1 4th Moon Elf Wizard from Evereska (or was it Gold Elf?) 1 4th Catfolk Rogue from the High Forest 1 3rd Human Wizard from Silverymoon 1 3rd Human Monk from Waterdeep |
| Paradisio11-17-05, 06:06 PM | Well looking through the different areas, most of the predominent creatures are very strong. And the group has a habit of rushing into combat. Trolls, dire bears, ettins giants, etc... |
| warlockco11-17-05, 06:29 PM | Well looking through the different areas, most of the predominent creatures are very strong. And the group has a habit of rushing into combat. Trolls, dire bears, ettins giants, etc... There's Orcs, Wolves, Goblins, etc in that area too. Just because there are Big Nasties, doesn't mean you have to use them right away. Otherwise, Waterdeep is a High Level Campaign Setting by your Definition. |
| Paradisio11-18-05, 11:34 PM | I'm a little confused on the wording of the FRCS... Does a sun elf get the ability modifiers of a regular elf AND a sun elf, or just the sun elf? (I would put an example, but I think thats against the rules.) |
| warlockco11-19-05, 12:35 AM | Sun Elf is +2 Int and -2 Con for their adjustments. |
| Paradisio11-21-05, 01:38 AM | Anyone have any information for incorporating classes like Ninja/Samurai (From CA/CV)? |
| Shike11-21-05, 08:16 PM | If you want to incorporate those classes you can do one of two things, first have the characters travel from Kara-Tur and then they wouldn't get any of the Region stuff, or, like ninja, you can make a case that they are a group of "monks" who specialize in other abilities. For samurai, there really isn't a good place to put them outside of Kara-Tur, IMO. |
