Rental properties in Waterdeep... [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-20-05, 12:41 PM Considering the massive costs of buildings (Stronghold Builder's Guide) and the high cost of land in Waterdeep, I was thinking that renting would be the most common may that people have access to using buildings. Anyone know of a source out there that gives some sort of pricing structure for renting in cities (I'll throw in modifiers for each ward, etc)?

I have a player who is attempting to rent a warehouse or somesuch to use as a temporary shelter for refugees. Anyway, I'm just trying to get an idea of the cost of such... thanks :).

I would assume that with all the strong mercantile activity in Waterdeep, there would be a lot of family owned businesses and the like. That, and housing. In the Middle Ages, (which Forgotten Realms is very loosely based on) the concept of living with your extended family was very common. So, when grandma and grandpa died, mom and dad got the house, and so on and so forth.

I'm willing to bet that this is how a large portion of Waterdeep's rank and file managed housing and places of business.
