| Finglas Leaflock07-10-03, 12:09 PM | I'm trying to figure this out. After re-reading the FRCS and MoF carefully, it's difficult to tell what the status of the Elven Court in Cormanthor is right now. Could it be completely abandoned by all surface elves, with the drow already in place there? Or is it completely abandoned by surface elves, but the drow are in the process of trying to penetrate the mythal--which according to MoF is still in place? Or, based on the mythal entry in MoF, is at least part of the city still inhabited, but hidden from the world? Or last, are the drow living there, with the surface elves all gone (except for the guy here: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=fr/pg20011114a)? Just kind of wondering, this could be one of those things they left open-ended for now I suppose. |
| Druxus Rhym07-10-03, 01:11 PM | In the FRCS it talks about a couple of Drow outposts and another group of Drow Rangers that are always moving around, so I say that the Drow have the forest in their control but they perfer the sneak around, all the elves are gone but some elves made a small city nearby that's all elves(I believe it's called something Tree) and a few elves live in the elven court still and the rest of they elves are somewhere in the dales or in Evermeet. |
| loki8707-10-03, 03:17 PM | The Elven Court itself still hasn't been resettled by the sun elves, but some are slowly returning from Evermeet. Some elves never left Cormanthor, and those dwell in Tangled Trees, just east of the Elven Court, and Semberholme, down in the south by Lake Sember. The Vhaerunian drow are attempting to infiltrate the Elven Court itself, but are being thwarted by the magical defenses that the sun elves left behind. And while there are more drow across Cormanthor than surface elves, they certainly don't have full control of the forest yet. As more elves return to Cormanthor from points west, I'm sure we'll see a major crusade against the drow. |
| Psionycx07-10-03, 04:59 PM | Cormanthor itself is vast, literally the size of a nation. So it's relatively easy for even thousands of drow and thousands of other elves to not be encamped on top of each other. House Jaelre drow have moved in to occupy some abandoned elf dwellings in the forest, though not they have not managed to gain control of the mythal areas. House Auzkovyn is instead nomadic within the forest and doesn't occupy any settlements as yet. The drow have a huge advantage over the returning elves from Evermeet in that they have more recent experience with the forest. They're also a lot more culturally accustomed to a life of fast-paced conflict. It is not likely that the elves will displace them easily. |
| smashmode07-10-03, 05:15 PM | Also soon the Dales might be readying themselves to move against the drow. |
| Purple Dragon Knight07-10-03, 08:24 PM | Battledale is currently fighting the drow actively. Deepingdale, more particulary Bristar and Moonrise Hill which are almost essentially composed of elves, is currently building walls around their villages. The shores of Lake Sember, more particularly the limestone caves that once served as surface elf refuges, are now overrun with drow. It's not looking good for the Dales right now, but IMO the drow will get kicked out of the Dales eventually (humans will overbreed anything). |

| Eltargrim07-31-03, 08:28 PM | The Elven Court (Where Corellon summond 500 elves to settel a new empire for the elves) has been abandon by elves since -4400 DR. On the Midwinter Night When the elves of Arcorar and the dwarfs of Sarphil was celebrating two-millennia of peace between the two races, drow and duergar flooted up from below and attacked the city. The drows and it allies where victoius, destorying most of the city. Intalled a mighty spell in the tempel of Corellon that summond spider in all shapes and sizes. That part of the wood became known as the Darkwood. The entire army of Cormanthyr would be needed to clear the woods from monsters, and the army was needed on far more fronts, then all of it being ocupied for years in the darkwood. So it says in Cormanthyr-Empire of the Elves 2nd Ed. Arcane Age. The Elven Court never got cleard. Not before Myth Drannors fall that is. |
| Finglas Leaflock08-01-03, 08:35 AM | But in The Fall of Myth Drannor, the elves did indeed resettle the Elven Court, and then in Magic of Faerun, the mythal is mentioned. |
