Revisiting the City of the Spider Queen [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-23-07, 11:12 AM As a DM, I had great fun running City of the Spider Queen (Hereby referred to as CotSQ) when it came out for the 3.0 rule set. My PC party also had a blast and ranked it up there with some of the most fulfilling role playing they have done.

However this was quite a while ago. Most of the players from the original CotSQ adventure group I ran are now gone - moved on to bigger and better things so to speak. Friends come and go - but will not be forgotten. Rock on fellas!

Anyways, I want to run CotSQ again for a new group but clearly with the 3.5 rules (which my new group and I are running) the adventure is a little watered down so to speak - not as potent. This is most notable with the new rules regarding Haste and the drows Darkness ability.

Haste was pretty potent in 3.0 - allowing drow casters to cast a spell and activate wand of Lightning Bolts in the same round. With the levels recomended by the module this was fine and dandy in the 3.0 rules however w/the 3.5 update - the drow casters are no longer as threatening as before.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to ways they personally have updated this great module or do you guys have any input as to other ways to make the adventure more adaptable/challenging in the 3.5 scheme of things?

... and if you look for more drow NPC - or a change to what is listed in the adventure, Warlockco did a heck of a lot of work on the drow NPC of Menzo and Ched Nasad ...
