Not quite sure I exactly understand what you are looking for.

The Pirates of the Fallen Stars supplement from 2ed discusses shi to ship combat and gives rules for voyages over the water. The Sea of Fallen Stars gives some information as well, though it is mostly a discussion about what is lurking beneath the waters.

I am not aware of any products that discuss sailing on the swordcoast.

Stormwrack I believe is the 3.5 supplement that gives updated rules for voyages on the sea.

Anyone else got anything?

Several of the Ravens Bluff modules contain details of ships and their crews, most notably Port of Ravens Bluff.

This Thread (http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9388) over at CK list all known canon ships (I need to update that today).

And Brian James' wonderful Article on The Age of Sail in the Candelkeep Compendium (http://candlekeep.com/compendium/index.htm), vol. IX.

Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast [as well as most other sourcebooks dealing with the North] provides lore on merchant ships and their activities in the Realms coastal regions.

See the Empires of the Shining Sea and the Lands of Intrigue box sets, as well as Volo's Guide to Baldur's Gate II and the 1e/2e FR boxed sets, along with the FRCS [which features lore on the Nelanther Isles]. The Corsairs of the Great Sea is also a useful supplement, from the "Al-Qadim" product line, featuring lore on ships operating in the Zakharan setting.

There are also a few brief notes in the "Play the Market" section of Power of Faerūn that may prove useful.

I have always enjoyed ship-based campaigns, and I have a particular fondness for the Sea of Swords. I'm glad you enjoyed the article UnicornQueen.

I hear you, Brian - great minds think alike and all that. :D

I have been a big fan of 'Pirate' style campaigns for years - I had a short -lived one based around the cartoon Pirates of Dark Water, long before 'Pirates' became fashionable.

Except I'm more of a Sea of Fallen Stars fan, myself. ;)

Too bad they are nuking it in 4e. :(

Fear not. You'll still be able to run a pirate campaign in the Inner Sea if you wish. The water level is dropping but the sea is still more than deep enough to pilot a carrack through it.

Except I'm more of a Sea of Fallen Stars fan, myself. ;)

Sorry for taking so long getting back.

I need one help again.

Is there a ruff map of Southern Faerun?

I'm getting very confused with were the seas are now, with new 4e. :headexplo:

P.S. I love your art work MarkusTay63. Your other maps are helping me not to go crazy. :looloo:

Are you talking about the Shining South (Great Sea)? Or the Shining Sea area?

You can view the Official World Map HERE. (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ag/20060607a)

I can give you a close-up of whatever you need, but you need to be more specific. :)

The Lake of Steam, The Shining Sea and The Great Sea.

My campaign has a safe harbour base in the Lake of Steam but with 4e I can't picture the area now. :uh-huh:

I also base Shackled City at the Alamir Mts.

Unfortunetly, I'm not done with the Southern Coast, but my maps of Calimshan (http://candlekeep.com/images/sitegfx/mt_calimshan.jpg) and Erlkazar (http://fc05.deviantart.com/fs30/i/2008/064/3/b/ErlKazar_Campaign_Map_by_Markustay.jpg) may prove of some use. I linked the Erlkazar Map at my DeviantART site, becasue the one at CK still hasn't been updated yet.

There are several others set more east that may prove of some use to you too in the CK Map Room (http://candlekeep.com/library/maps.htm).

Also, the second one at the Serpent Kingdoms Map Gallery (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mw/20051220a) will be helpful as well, showing the area just below my Erlkazar Map. Note - the first one of those three is pretty much Ground Zero of the new 4e Plaguelands. ;)

Sea of Fallen Stars for 2e had a pretty good section, albeit a short one, on naval law and customs as I recall it... I found it useful for just about anywhere really.
