Saurials and Specialty Priests [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-10-08, 02:25 AM Without any football on to occupy my Sunday afternoons, I was going through my collection of FR paperbacks and ran across The Finders Stone Trilogy. I was just wondering if anyone had ever incorporated the Saurials into thier game world, and if so, what will happen to them now that 4E has ruined the Realms.

Also, did anyone ever use specialty priests from the Forgotten Realms Hardcover (2E)? I guess it was the origianal Realms "prestige" class.

Also in the FRHC, wild magic was introduced. Did anyone ever use it? I guess with the Realms being so screwed up by 4E, all magic can be considered wild, or one can say there be large areas of dead magic zones.

03-10-08, 02:47 AM Considering the advance of the Netherese Empire in 4e, I don't think there is much hope for the Saurials living in the Lost Vale.

However, if the designers DO kill them off, there is still a 'canon' out - the Lacerials living in the Malatra Jungle (south of Kara-Tur) are racially IDENTICAL to the four groups of Saurials living in the Lost Vale. Either that group emigrated to Toril MUCH earlier, or the Saurials themselves were originally from the Realms.

I used Wild Magic (loads of fun! :D), but never any of the Speciality Priests, unfortunately.

03-11-08, 12:23 AM -There was a web-update to Serpent Kingdoms (I can't tell you where to find it. I'm horrible at navigating the WotC site) has 3e stats for the three major subtypes of Saurials.

Either that group emigrated to Toril MUCH earlier, or the Saurials themselves were originally from the Realms.

-I, personally, have always thought them to be evolved from either, the Sarrukh, or from Thunderbeasts themselves, transformed by some magic somewhere. I, personally, like the second origin better, but that's just me.

-Yes, that one. And, apparently, it only has one Saurial subrace. I recall a late DRAGON magazine (300-330, or so) that had Saurials.
