| EHFreitag10-08-04, 11:56 PM | :OMG! This is in my opinion, the best art that I have ever seen in a D&D book. Period. almost worth it just for the art! |
| GothicDan10-09-04, 12:01 AM | Looks good. I might actually pick this one up, if it's as good as everyone says it is, and as good as the art is... |
| DwarvinJedi10-09-04, 12:04 AM | Whoever drew those Thri-kreen should be permanently hired to draw Thri-kreen, and maybe Dromites. |
| Ramius_Mordale10-09-04, 01:37 AM | *Nods in agreement* Yeah I got to say that's the best drawing of thri-kreens in a long time. I also liked pretty much all the other drawings as well, it just made it seem to come more alive. Very few I could find that just didn't look real enough but everything else was excellent! Same with the battle scenes, some of the best ones of live action I've seen in a while. Now let's just hope the book is better than just a picture book. :ayyyy!: |
| Ryltar Swordsong10-09-04, 09:58 AM | Where's the thri-kreen's abdomen? I have yet to see a 3e thri-kreen drawn properly. Overall, the art's ok. |
| maynardjkeenan10-09-04, 11:23 AM | Am I the only one that doesn't like the art in the book? :) Some of them are ok, like the Scourge Maiden, while others like that Jordain character just looks weird. Is he famous for having the longest face in all of Toril or something? |

Well, you would be long in the face if you were taught alot of things about magic, yet forbidden to learn to use magic, and to serve wizards for your eternal life. They are basically specialized enuchs (sp) near as I can tell. And yes they are unable to breed. |
| Banshee10-09-04, 09:02 PM | Where's the thri-kreen's abdomen? I have yet to see a 3e thri-kreen drawn properly. Overall, the art's ok. They changed the look of them by removing the big abdomen for 3E, so that they could be size M instead of L, and hence easier to have as a PC race without super high level adjustments. I don't happen to like the change either....but they similarly damaged the Bariaur as well, so I'm not surprised. The Bariaur sucked in Manual of the Planes, then were fixed in the Book of Exalted Deeds, then were wrecked again in the Players Guide to the Planes, I believe, where they made them large, and said that the ones from the Book of Exalted Deeds were an "exalted" variant race. The Thri-Kreen have had....what? 3 or 4 variants in 3E? I think the original ones from the original Psionics Handbook web enhancement (I think it was in the web enhancement) was the best version. | Mr.Waesel10-11-04, 06:00 AM | There are 3 things called "beguiler" in the art gallery. I'm assuming two of them are typos. |

I'm assuming two of them are typos. prestige class? specific magic casting class? that doesnt explain the tiny little mammal weilding some sort of arcane energy on the pedistal though... perhaps a familiar? i'd like to see the book. i spent all weekend at different book stores, nothing out yet. |

The beguiler is the small creature, finally adapted from the old 2e FR Monstrous Compendium appendix. I'm surprised they didn't update the cloak of the beguiler from that old MC entry in the new book, though... |

| Herr Doktor10-27-04, 12:06 AM | A bunch of those images are named incorrectly. The Halruaan Elder is a spear wielding Shaaran, for example. This one is the real beguiler: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/ssouth_gallery/84366.jpg |
