Hello all.
Those of you who play extensively in the Silver Marches as my group does might appreciate the following recipe. The Silver Marches book refers to Silvaerren Nut-Cheese as famous, but does not elaborate on it further. For grins, I found a recipe that I thought seemed exotic enough to be of the Realms and have adapted it. It's unusual, but it provides an interesting respite from the usual game night fare. It's also kind of fun to set it on the table just as the server would to enhance the game. Enjoy:

Silvaerren Nut-Cheese

2 cups (8-ounces) smoked Gouda cheese, shredded
1 tablespoon brandy (use the good stuff)
½ cup butter, softened
1 cup pitted dates, chopped
1 cup slivered almonds, toasted

Place shredded Gouda, butter, and brandy into work bowl of food processor Blend until smooth. Add dates and almonds and process until they are blended with cheese mixture. Pack into serving crock or shape cheese into a ball or loaf and roll in additional toasted, slivered almonds. Bring the nut cheese to room temperature before serving (you taste the brandy more this way ). Serve with a spiced bread or crackers.

Yield: 1 cheese ball or loaf

Nice one, I'm always intrigued by the idea of serving appropriate food. Actually I just like food in general. Have you got any more recipes for us?

well, I have experiemented with other foods that I thought fit the game. My players and I rotate preparing food each week and when its my turn I try to do soemthing a bit unique. If you have the Silver Marches book, in the city description of Silverymoon, under the section on the Stagstand Inn it refers to said inn's bill of fare. I've served venison steaks once (my uncle is a hunter so I was able to get it cheaply. delicious and healthy) and I find that a more exotic smoked sausage (something with jalapenos in it is how we like it here in good ol' Texas) make a good Rothe' sausage. Whatever you serve, make sure to serve some spiced breads along with it.
