giggles72 12-31-05, 08:46 PM	A player in my campaign has taken the Spellfire Wielder feat. It says that it acts like a rod of absorption. The rod of absorption says "The magic absorbed must be a single-target spell or a ray directed at either the character posessing the rod or her gear." Can someone explain to me the concept of a single-target spell? Is Magic Missile a single target spell. What if I target 3 different characters, each with one magic missile, can the Spellfire Wielder absorb the spell if he is one of the characters. Does it work differently if all three magic missiles are just sent at the Spellfire Wielder? What about chain lightning if it targets 3 people is that different from targeting one person?
Mathas 12-31-05, 09:20 PM	With the magic missile spell, if each missile is set for one target and the Spell Fire feat will only allow the character that posses it to absorbn the missile that is directed at him or herself, As for chain lightning..the target description in the PHB sates that it can have one primary target plus one secondary target per level as long as those targets are within thirty feet of the primary. In that spell case, I would say that if the possessor of the Speel Fire feat is the primary target then yes he or she could have chance of absoring it, but if he or she is a secondary target then I would leave that up to DM discretion.
