Ssussunriyh 06-27-04, 11:58 PM	Do you mean a sledge (big two-handed steel hammer) or a sledge (wagon with ski runners instead of wheels)? If the former, FRCS already has stats for a maul... I don't see any reason to have a different set of stats for another kind of big hammer.

Sarta 06-28-04, 09:51 PM	Sledges a.k.a. sledgehammers, within the realms and the real world fulfill the same function: hammering stuff. The one listed in the players handbook is not meant to serve as a weapon, unlike the maul detailed in the FRCS. It is not weighted properly and is not constructed to withstand the rigors of combat. However, it will serve as an improvised weapon (-4 to hit). I'd stat it as a two-handed weapon dealing 1d8 damage with a X 2 multiplier for criticals, but with a low hardness compared to say a maul. dragonheart 06-30-04, 10:28 AM	the sledge (sledgehammer) is a mining tool its actually very sturdy as its used to hammer a drillbit into rock. THink of John Henry with a sledgehammer in each hand racing the steam drill. its definitely a two handed weapon for most of us and a slow one at that. I would never carry one of those around in my backpack and its not likely to be lying around near a chest either. you can use a regular hammer to do the same work on locks but it may take a few bangs. Asmaller lighter version in use today is the "crack" hammer used by geologists to bust open rocks in the field - one handed and weighs about 5 pounds - and its a heavy sucker to lug around all day even when it is useful.
