| The Simbul12-11-03, 06:45 PM | The Seven Sisters have Silverhair, it's a simple fact...Yet in illustrations in both the Epic Level Handbook and in the Silver Marshes we see images of Alustriel as a brunette...who does she think she is??? Does she think that using a cantrip to color her hair is somehow going to make everyone forget she is a Chosen??? And NO I am not just jealous because my older sister has found a way to look younger!!! :headexplo :headexplo :headexplo http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FR_ART/People/tn_Alustriel_jpg.jpg (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FR_ART/People/Alustriel.jpg) Before... http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/EPIC_Gallery/Gallery7/tn_44269_CA1_Alustriel_jpg.jpg (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/EPIC_Gallery/Gallery7/44269_CA1_Alustriel.jpg) ...and After :tantrum: Despite all my scrying, I still cant figure your how she did it :tantrum: Maybe Alustriel could be the new spokeswoman for Loreal...move over Beyonce and other quasi-beautiful "celebrity" hacks and has-beens: Announcer:"Long-lasting ravishing color, that shimmers and shines and won't fade away!!" Alustriel: "I see my self in Feria...by Loreal" [cut to shot of product] Alustriel: [;)] because your worth it! |
| Xae'an12-11-03, 06:56 PM | I found that somehow strange too, I thought all of the Seven Sisters had silver hair. |
| Wooly Rupert12-11-03, 07:09 PM | Most of the Seven Sisters are magic-users of some sort. Obviously, the Lady Alustriel was just using some sort of magic at the moment that the artist caught her. ;) Seriously, I don't go by the artwork for what a character is supposed to look like. There's been times that the artwork and character description don't match, and this is such a case. |
| Xae'an12-11-03, 07:16 PM | Fzoul Chembryl is also supposed to have red hair in the avatar series novels while he is shown blond in the FRCS. |
| Wooly Rupert12-11-03, 07:38 PM | Okay, I'll admit it: it's me. I've been selling Wooly Rupert's Wondrous Hair Dye in the Realms for many years now. Ten gold for a bottle, ten doses to a bottle. A single dose of Wooly Rupert's Wondrous Hair Dye will cover the head of a medium-sized humanoid, and can be applied in minutes, but lasts for one full month (thirty days). During that time, the wearer can mentally control the color and style of their hair, changing either by act of will, once a day. The style and color choice will remain until the wearer decides to change either, or until the dose wears off. A side effect is that all body hair (eyebrows, etc) is affected by Wooly Rupert's Wondrous Hair Dye, even though it's usually only applied to the head. Wooly Rupert's Wondrous Hair Dye is currently available in larger cities of the Realms, and from any outlet of Aurora's Whole Realms Catalog. Disclaimer: Wooly Rupert is not a Thayvian, and his products are not in anyway connected to that nation or its people. |

But, then again, The FR's Simbul strikes me as the type that would not let such a state get in her way for revenge. By the way...your sister's before picture is much better than the.....after picture.....who drew the latter one?? |
| The Simbul12-12-03, 01:52 PM | The first image of Alustriel is from the Forgotten Realms Campaign Sourcebook and is illustrated by Todd Lockwood, who is a very talented artist. In fact I think he illustrated most of the iconic FR characters in that sourcebook including Storm, Elminster, and yours truly. The latter image of Alustriel is from the Epic Level Handbook, and the illustration has the signed name of "Sardinha". While I am in no position to critique someone else's paintings (I can barely draw stick figures), I must say that most of the artwork of the Forgotten Realms characters in the ELH did not meet my expectations, they just didnt look right to me. (The Silver Marshes art gallery is not available online at this site, so I didnt use Alustriels "brown hair" image in that book). Rebbeca Guay (one of my favorite artists) did a nice very rendition of myself in the ELH, but If I had to choose I would still prefer Todd Lockwood's FRCS painting: Todd Lockwoods "The Simbul" (Forgotten Realms Campaign Sourcebook) http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FR_ART/People/tn_TheSimbul_jpg.jpg (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FR_ART/People/TheSimbul.jpg) Rebecca Guay's "The Simbul" (Epic Level Handbook) http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/EPIC_Gallery/Gallery7/tn_44202_CA1_Simbul_jpg.jpg (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/EPIC_Gallery/Gallery7/44202_CA1_Simbul.jpg) |

Who are you and what have you done with The Simbul? No position to critique? That's never stopped anyone before.... Seriously, you are dead on that Lockwood's depiction of yourself (How long did it take you posing for him?) is vastly superior to the ELH. The art for the FR figures in the ELH was very disappointing. |
| Bifford12-12-03, 06:03 PM | The ELH Elminster looks constipated. |
