| Da3mon02-21-08, 05:36 PM | I dont usualy participate but I love to read most post since I registered.. What is your usual way of reading a post? I read the original post then all of LK's and I pretty much learned everything I had to... In other words this post is a way of saying : All hail LK!! |
| Lord Karsus02-22-08, 12:16 AM | -Sir, if there were more people in the world like you, we'd have a much happier planet. |
| MarkusTay6302-22-08, 12:32 AM | Here we go again... You attract more hands than a choir boy at a priest convention. :P |
| Da3mon02-22-08, 12:49 AM | Roooh the almighty answered my prayers XD Here we go again... You attract more hands than a choir boy at a priest convention. :P Hes more like the pope of Dnd at a convention. I mean ive been on the forum for a good 2 years and seriously 80% of what I read was from LK. |
| Lord Karsus02-22-08, 12:53 AM | Here we go again... -Again? You attract more hands than a choir boy at a priest convention. :P -Altar boy. I think choir boys go unmolested. Take that as you will...:shifty: |
| Da3mon02-22-08, 01:10 AM | Hey while your there... I don't read anything about 4ed I am completely clueless, is all of the overall FR story going to go farther. What I mean is, for ex:will we actualy know what Bane does next?. For me that is the only reason to get 4ed know what comes next...even if it screws all our campaigns. |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus02-22-08, 01:41 AM | :shifty: Hmm Two new candidates in less than 24 Hrs.:detect: Better be sharp or they'll do to me what I did to IrishWolf16:gel: |
| Lord Karsus02-22-08, 02:06 PM | Hey while your there... I don't read anything about 4ed I am completely clueless, is all of the overall FR story going to go farther. -Read these two articles, then: Countdown to the Realms: Year of the Ageless One (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20080111a) Countdown to the Realms: Magic in the Forgotten Realms (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20080130a) -If it asks for your log-in information, it's the same as your boards log-in information. What I mean is, for ex:will we actualy know what Bane does next?. -Bane, specifically? No, we don't know what's gonna be up with him. :shifty: Hmm Two new candidates in less than 24 Hrs.:detect: Better be sharp or they'll do to me what I did to IrishWolf16:gel: -Better stay on your toes...I like you, though. ;) |
| GothicDan02-22-08, 02:10 PM | I taught him everything he knows. |
| Lord Karsus02-22-08, 02:24 PM | -Not really. I've picked up a few things from you. -We are contemporaries, not master-and-apprentice. |
| Alediran02-22-08, 03:34 PM | I'm older than both of you :D |
| Lord Karsus02-22-08, 03:45 PM | -That you are. |
| GothicDan02-22-08, 05:05 PM | Indeed. |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-22-08, 07:12 PM | I'm older than both of you :D Not older than me though.;) :P |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus02-22-08, 07:16 PM | Not older than me though.;) :P I am:D |
| Alediran02-22-08, 07:34 PM | Not older than me though.;) :P And my girlfriend is older than you :D |
| Old Sage02-22-08, 07:37 PM | Heh. Youngsters these days... :P |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus02-22-08, 07:43 PM | Old Sage FTW!;) |
| GothicDan02-22-08, 07:55 PM | Old Sage's age ~ 5,448. *Nods.* |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-22-08, 08:17 PM | Heh, yeah, I know I'm not by far the oldest one here.;) |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus02-22-08, 08:27 PM | But probably the nicest and the most beautiful ;) |
| GothicDan02-22-08, 08:53 PM | I dunno. I'm pretty nice, and LK is pretty beautiful... |
| Alediran02-22-08, 08:58 PM | That's because you haven't seen me  |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus02-22-08, 09:20 PM | That's because you haven't seen me  Um no. |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus02-22-08, 09:24 PM | We are Latinos, we don't count.(have to give non-latinos a chance ;)) |
| Lord Karsus02-23-08, 12:34 AM | I dunno. I'm pretty nice, and LK is pretty beautiful... -Awesome. Not only am I an awesome poster, but I am also beautiful. :D -No, but, her beauty far surpasses my own. Dan, you'll have to...understand, you know? |
| Old Sage02-23-08, 03:57 AM | Sorry folks... but I got you all beat in the "beauty" department as well. http://forums.gleemax.com/images/avatars/AumvorAvatar.jpg ... I know what you're all thinking. I'm one SEXY beast. Aye! :D |
| GothicDan02-23-08, 08:48 AM | We are Latinos, we don't count.(have to give non-latinos a chance ) Granted, Latinos (some) are the only guys I find attractive after the classical Aryan stereotypes. Yeah, I'm one of those. -Awesome. Not only am I an awesome poster, but I am also beautiful. -No, but, her beauty far surpasses my own. Dan, you'll have to...understand, you know? I was going to say "I'm pretty beautiful.." but even I can't lie that much. And no, I don't understand. *Gay.* But I'm sure Rino is a fairy princess! Old Sage.... You free next Saturday night? ;) |
| Alediran02-23-08, 10:38 AM | When I find a picture I'll upload it. |
| Alediran02-23-08, 01:21 PM | Here it's a picture of me. I look like a Vampire Lord there. http://link.imgshare.us/2mjQmQ Me and my girlfriend http://link.imgshare.us/2mjQcM |
| GothicDan02-23-08, 02:06 PM | You look drunk! |
| MarkusTay6302-23-08, 02:07 PM | Don't know Sage, I might have you beat on two counts... :P I think it has something to do with 'soaking up FR lore' - it goes right to our thighs! :D Anyway, I'll be 45 come Aug., but I doubt that makes me the oldest here. Also, I try not to collect 'acolytes', next thing you know they'll be nailing you to a cross or something... :hides: One word of advice, Da3mon, don't except any 'Koolaid' from him.... |
| GothicDan02-23-08, 02:16 PM | Hey. If I'm going to be nailed to a cross, I at least want some acolytes first. Today I was told by pledges that I "exuded an aura of atheism." I was so proud. |
| MarkusTay6302-23-08, 02:28 PM | Way off subject here, buuuut... How can you possibly look upon the majestic ballet of precisely balanced forces in our Universe, and NOT believe in something greater? Science STRENGTHENS my beliefs, not expels them. And you do know that it was the Catholic Church that came up with the 'Big Bang' Theory, right? ;) |
| 18DELTA02-23-08, 03:53 PM | -FREAKS!!! 18DELTA:hides: |
| Lord Karsus02-23-08, 05:16 PM | You look drunk! -And his girlfriend's hair certainly looks natural...:shifty: -But, she is nice, I'm sure. Also, I try not to collect 'acolytes', next thing you know they'll be nailing you to a cross or something... :hides: -I don't think I have to worry about that. One word of advice, Da3mon, don't except any 'Koolaid' from him.... -Don't listen to MT. He's an angry, bitter old man. :P |
| Lord Karsus02-23-08, 05:17 PM | -FREAKS!!! 18DELTA:hides: -Whatchu' talkin' 'bout, Delta? |
| GothicDan02-23-08, 06:07 PM | And you do know that it was the Catholic Church that came up with the 'Big Bang' Theory, right? Incorrect. It was a Christian scientist who came up with the idea of the Big Bang. The Vatican started to publicize this as "evidence" for the creation story in the bible, and the original scientist wrote to the Vatican and told them to STOP THIS IMMEDIATELY because scientifically, the Big Bang theory had nothing to do with that in the Bible, and he didn't want the scientific world to attribute the idea to a Christian dogma. How can you possibly look upon the majestic ballet of precisely balanced forces in our Universe, and NOT believe in something greater? Greater how? Greater than what? I believe in the Fundamental Interactions, quantum mechanics, and thermodynamics. They're 'greater' in that they pervade all of known reality. |
| Alediran02-23-08, 06:23 PM | Not drunk, I was completely exausted that day. I work at least 9 hours every day. And I'm not photogenic. |

In, like, the early '90s. |
| GothicDan02-23-08, 08:07 PM | Okay, LK. I'm not sure what that has to do with the Big Bang. :) |
| GothicDan02-23-08, 08:08 PM | Not drunk, I was completely exausted that day. I work at least 9 hours every day. And I'm not photogenic. I hear you on both accounts. |
| Lord Karsus02-23-08, 08:14 PM | Okay, LK. I'm not sure what that has to do with the Big Bang. :) -Somehow, I knew you were going to say this...Did I say that it had anything to do specifically with the Big Bang? -It's another example of the medieval Catholic Church meddling in and stifling the advancement of science. |
| GothicDan02-23-08, 08:15 PM | One would have inferred you meant it to, since the quote of mine you responded to had nothing to do with anything but the Big Bang... Bad LK. Bad. |
| Lord Karsus02-23-08, 08:20 PM | One would have inferred you meant it to, since the quote of mine you responded to had nothing to do with anything but the Big Bang... Bad LK. Bad. -People should know that Galileo had nothing to do with the Big Bang. If they inferred it as such, it's their own fault for being stupid. -That's something YOU can get behind. ;) |
| Alediran02-23-08, 08:48 PM | I hear you on both accounts. What nobody can deny is that I don't look Latin :D |
| GothicDan02-23-08, 10:31 PM | -People should know that Galileo had nothing to do with the Big Bang. If they inferred it as such, it's their own fault for being stupid. -That's something YOU can get behind. I can also get behind logical use of English argumentation; there's a valid format for making points, you know. Discrete Logic teaches me so. ;) |
| GothicDan02-23-08, 10:32 PM | What nobody can deny is that I don't look Latin I do too. Under the bleach and blue contacts. |
| Ody_Saraph_of_Karsus02-24-08, 05:39 PM | What nobody can deny is that I don't look Latin :D Well for some reason Arjentinos always struk me as the less "mixed" of the crowd, but it's all about the attittude ;) |
| Khaelieth02-24-08, 06:48 PM | -The denunciation of Galileo was recently rescinded, if I recall correctly. In, like, the early '90s. 2 reasons why the Church said he was a fraud. 1. The Muslims were all for the world being round and going round the Sun, they'd known it for ages! But as we know, medieval Christianity didn't mix terribly well with Islam. The muslims had known this ever since they inherited Alexander's empire (eventually they did) and therefor nicked his library. And the Christians weren't about to say the muslims had been right all the time - muslims were evil and needed killing! 2. Try to explain to a medieval peasant that the world is round and it's rotating around the Sun. How isn't he falling off? Gravity? What's that? Also, the Church was aware that they were wrong. It was more politics than religion. As for how I read threads, I start with the title. If it interests me, I'll read the first post, then some of the answers with the least spelling mistakes then check if anything's unanswered or if I disagree/agree with something. |
| Lord Karsus02-24-08, 08:09 PM | http://forums.gleemax.com/images/avatars/AumvorAvatar.jpg ... I know what you're all thinking. I'm one SEXY beast. Aye! :D -One day, that's probably going to come back to bite you, you know? :P |
| Alediran02-24-08, 08:16 PM | Well for some reason Arjentinos always struk me as the less "mixed" of the crowd, but it's all about the attittude ;) We have our share of mixed blood too. For those who can understand spanish well I'll give you one of our best comical groups: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePJSDgfTcdk. Sorry for those who don't understand spanish because the video doen's has subtitles. |
| Old Sage02-24-08, 08:30 PM | -One day, that's probably going to come back to bite you, you know? :P Indeed. Let's just hope Brian isn't reading this. :P |
| OleOneEye02-24-08, 11:32 PM | -It's another example of the medieval Catholic Church meddling in and stifling the advancement of science. Modern Western science attributes its origins to religious beliefs. |
| GothicDan02-25-08, 09:42 AM | We do? What? Someone better inform the future theoretical particle cosmologist of this supposed religious influence in science so that he may crush it. I do hope it's not that rumored "big bang is religious" again stuff, as I already refuted that. A speaker we had last semester actually made a point of this story, and in saying that "you can be a religious scientist without your science being religious," and used the above example. |
| Alediran02-25-08, 11:12 AM | Have you read one of Stepehn Hawking's last postulations? He stated that Time as we percieved it isn't the same Time as a Dimension, therefore the possibility exists that the Universe simply is instead of having a begining (with the Big Bang). I have it in Spanish, therefore I don't know where it could be written in English. |
| MarkusTay6302-25-08, 11:47 AM | ST:DS9 touched upon that briefly, toward the end. There was a 'mystical' race that dwelled within the Wormhole, and they turned out to be "non-linear" beings - a race that doesn't live 'within time', but rather exists at all points at once (which is how Hawkins describes the universe as being). That theory would explain quite a few things, like residual hauntings (which are 'recorded' by the local environment). It is a proven fact that most residual hauntings occur in areas with a lot of quartz - perhaps crystals can reflect different 'facets of time' just as they do light, allowing us to glimpse events that have taken place in the past. Maybe all hauntings are just that - little pieces of time that overlap at certain 'weak points'. This could also go a long way in explaining why so many 'crazy people' who have hallucinations all describe the same things. There are so many scientific and esoteric phenomena that could be explained by points of time coexisting side-by-side - everything from UFOs to 'monster' sightings. I like it... I wonder if Mr. Hawkins needs a research assistant? :D |
| Lord Karsus02-25-08, 11:49 AM | A speaker we had last semester actually made a point of this story, and in saying that "you can be a religious scientist without your science being religious," and used the above example. -What was that TV show, with the angels disguised as Humans, who would reveal themselves in the persons moment of need? Whatever it was, I can remember watching an episode with my mom a long time ago, and that was the exact topic of that episode. Modern Western science attributes its origins to religious beliefs. -In times past, and still to this day, I am sure, rich patrons, such as church officials and such people would fund scientists, it's true. When things were discovered that clashed with church teachings, however... |

I wonder if Mr. Hawkins needs a research assistant? :D When I was at school I wanted to be a scientific so I could unravel those mysteries. Hawking's postulate almost resontates with Mystical meanings, for example, the reality we see is not the true reality but just what we think it is. The part about cristals you mentioned would explain why Magic Rituals in the Real World use them as focus. As I see it, we are reaching the point where science and magic are the same thing. |
| Lord Karsus02-25-08, 12:22 PM | Hawking's postulate almost resontates with Mystical meanings, for example, the reality we see is not the true reality but just what we think it is. -Which fits nicely with Cartesian metaphysics. |
| MarkusTay6302-25-08, 01:23 PM | Religion, science, and meta-physics are all different sides to the same (4-dimensional?) coin. Ones man's 'magic' is another man's 'science'. In the Dune novels, a person can touch a painting, and feel eactly what the painter felt with each stroke. There is NO magic in Dune - its just that the technology is SO advanced that one race was able to figure out how to 'read' an artist's brushstrokes, almost like a super-advanced form of profiling. In the Foundation series (another classic), scientists figure out the future PRECISELY, not by using prescience, but rather a new form of highly-exact mathematical formulae called 'Psycho-History'. Now, back to time - I need to get ahold of bucket loads of money so I can setup an experiment - I want to see if its possible to build a 'Temporal Window' by arranging crystals in a certain pattern around the area that you wish to view. If its true that time doesn't move, we do, then it should be possible to alter our perceptions to view other pieces of time around us. First stop - the Grassy Gnoll, 1963. |
| Lord Karsus02-25-08, 02:02 PM | -The idea of time failing to exist, such as in black holes, boggles my mind. |
| GothicDan02-25-08, 02:09 PM | Singularity physics is really, really neat, and so far still beyond the ken of experimental testing. Singularities ( black holes) have always been one of my favorite areas of study. I haven't read any Hawking for one reason - I don't want to read his stuff until I have a better grasp on physics. I don't like it when they reduce things into laymen's terms. Markus: I wouldn't say that no magic existed in Dune. Just that the concept of magic being divided from science didn't exist. :) Note that this is the reason I'm studying physics: it's the closest I can get to being a wizard. |

| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-25-08, 03:04 PM | -The idea of time failing to exist, such as in black holes, boggles my mind. Same here. The cosmos in general boggle my mind.:) |
| Lord Karsus02-25-08, 04:15 PM | Same here. The cosmos in general boggle my mind.:) -The vastness of it all, yes. |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-25-08, 04:27 PM | -The vastness of it all, yes. And, if there's a limit to it, what is beyond it? Where is "here"? |
| GothicDan02-25-08, 04:30 PM | What's beyond the CMB is one of those things science doesn't talk about. We know our limits, and try not to tread on the paths of religion and philosophy too much by speculating on things without any data. Unless some other branches of... Life I could talk about. ;) |
| Lord Karsus02-25-08, 04:33 PM | And, if there's a limit to it, what is beyond it? Where is "here"? -Here is here. Can the internet even be considered 'here'? |
| GothicDan02-25-08, 04:42 PM | To quote a prof. of mine, "The internets have spoken." |
| Alediran02-25-08, 04:49 PM | -Here is here. Can the internet even be considered 'here'? In both Mage: the Ascension and Mage: the Awakening the Internet is another dimension that you can explore. |
| Da3mon02-25-08, 04:54 PM | What the...? So this is what a post about the godliness of LK becomes? |
| Lord Karsus02-25-08, 05:13 PM | What the...? So this is what a post about the godliness of LK becomes? -I agree. Pay me more homage! |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-25-08, 06:28 PM | -Here is here. Can the internet even be considered 'here'? I think maybe it can.:) |

We know our limits, and try not to tread on the paths of religion and philosophy too much by speculating on things without any data. It doesn't have to involve religion or philosophy. Why isn't what's beyond the universe "testable"? Even if it isn't now, maybe at some point it will be.:) |
| Old Sage02-25-08, 06:44 PM | That picture makes me want to vomit.:weep:Do you want me to get you a bucket? ;) |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-25-08, 06:50 PM | Do you want me to get you a bucket? ;) Yes, please.:weep: |
| GothicDan02-25-08, 07:19 PM | It doesn't have to involve religion or philosophy. Why isn't what's beyond the universe "testable"? Even if it isn't now, maybe at some point it will be. Because it would take too long for us to send out any form of message/signal, and for it to get back to us. We would all be dead by then. :) Remember, a lot of the stars you're looking at are already dead, and the CMB is further away than those. One day we might be able to make predictions, but we can do no actual experiments. |

Well, you're the physicist here, so I'll take your word on that.:) I guess I just try not to rule anything out when it comes to technology, because I find it so surprising what we are capable of even at this time. |
| Da3mon02-25-08, 07:33 PM | Deep inside we all know that LK secretly controls time ans space, we are but a creation of his will. |
| GothicDan02-25-08, 07:34 PM | Don't take my word on it as absolute truth, of course. :) But yeah. The basic premise is... Nothing can move faster than the speed of light. Right now. Things could, maybe, but the possibility of that is just about as sound, scientifically, as saying, "Little rabbits can push things faster than the speed of light!" But if we get other evidence? You can bet your butt I'll update my opinion based on the new data! |

Heh, I think it would be really neat if we did get new evidence, although I somehow doubt we'll see it in our lifetimes. :) I think we should always keep pushing the limits--that's how we got where we are now. |
| GothicDan02-25-08, 07:51 PM | Rino, you should be a scientist with me. We'll find them bunnies! :) |
| OleOneEye02-25-08, 11:13 PM | We do? What? Someone better inform the future theoretical particle cosmologist of this supposed religious influence in science so that he may crush it. Copernicus was not just looking at the stars because he thought it was fun, but rather, he was attempting to find hints that would point to armageddon. Also note that modern theoretical cosmology is not free from beliefs based upon faith. It is undeniable that the observable matter of the universe cannot hold itself together under Newton's laws of gravity. Thus, it is pretended that dark matter exists without one shred of evidence beyond the belief in Newton's laws of gravity. All respectable astronomers understand that research into a modified Newtonian gravity and publishing papers to the effect will destroy their reputation. That sounds like blind faith to me. |
| Lord Karsus02-25-08, 11:20 PM | What more you want? My name pretty much means : Karsus' B!^ch you know? -I hear you, I hear you... Deep inside we all know that LK secretly controls time ans space, we are but a creation of his will. -Not exactly. I'd be boring. Thus, I allow free will. |
| MarkusTay6302-26-08, 12:08 AM | But if we get other evidence? You can bet your butt I'll update my opinion based on the new data! You don't need to travel FTL - all you need do is 'fold space'. ;) After all, like time, 3-dimensional space is just an abstract that are minds define for us as best as it can, ergo, like time, all points can exist at once.. you simply have to figure out how to 'connect the dots'. All you need is an Infinite Improbability drive.. just steal one like Zaphod Bebblebrox did. :P So now we have come full circle, and have realized that both time and space exist only in our minds, and if we can unshackle those, anything is possible. |
