| spiller09-17-05, 05:58 AM | Hi, I just read in the Dragon magazine (#335) that the latest SoS: Waterdeep book has an "accompanying web enhancement detailing the Environs of Waterdeep", but after checking the web enhancements section and doing a search at the wizards.com, I couldn't find it. So is there a web enhancement after all? I just got the book, so I apologize if this topic has been covered elsewhere earlier. |
| Old Sage09-17-05, 06:39 AM | It hasn't been released yet. We're still waiting for it. Eric and I originally theorised that it would probably be posted at WotC around mid-August based on the previous supplement/WE schedule. The last WE for an FR product was released roughly two months after the product hit the shelves. |
| spiller09-17-05, 08:31 AM | Ok. So, apparently the FR web enhancements are released with a longer delay than non-setting-specific products. Good to know. Thanks! |
| Old Sage09-17-05, 10:30 AM | It hasn't always been that way. Most WE in the past were released just after a game accessory was published. |
| warlockco09-17-05, 07:09 PM | It hasn't always been that way. Most WE in the past were released just after a game accessory was published. Sometimes released on the same as the book hitting the shelves, but now there seems to be month to 2 or 3 month delay. |
| Old Sage09-18-05, 12:06 AM | In the US and Europe that may be true, but for those FR fans living in Australia (like me), there would often be a few days between the update for a WE relating to a recently released FR accessory. Once, we even saw a WE uploaded before the FR supplement was released here . |

| Old Sage09-18-05, 12:31 AM | Indeed. Though I'm still on track to make the move to the US within the next three years :D. |
| warlockco09-18-05, 12:53 AM | Indeed. Though I'm still on track to make the move to the US within the next three years :D. Where at in the states are you planning to relocate to? BIG SUGGESTION: Avoid the South East part of the US. Unless you really like Hurricanes, or Typhoons rather, since you are in Australia. ;) |

| Old Sage09-18-05, 04:20 AM | Aye, they are cyclones :). Where at in the states are you planning to relocate to?I've got relatives in New York, so it's likely I'll head to the east coast. So is there a web enhancement after all?Thinking about this a little more, you might consider emailing WotC directly and seeing if they can provide you with some information on the WE's probable release date. |
| warlockco09-18-05, 04:55 AM | Cyclones. They get cyclones in Australia. Cyclones? I thought Hurricanes were Atlantic and Typhoons were Pacific. |
| runestar09-18-05, 05:03 AM | My local borders bookstore told me I probably would have to wait for another 1-2 months before waterdeep even arrives.... :weep: |
| warlockco09-18-05, 05:10 AM | My local borders bookstore told me I probably would have to wait for another 1-2 months before waterdeep even arrives.... :weep: Ouch, where are you located at? Should be about a month at most before the chain retailers pick it up. Might want to maybe check Amazon.com, chances are shipping will be free. |
| spiller09-18-05, 05:12 AM | Thinking about this a little more, you might consider emailing WotC directly and seeing if they can provide you with some information on the WE's probable release date. I might just do that. And here I thought that Finland was always the last one to receive new releases... |
| WVgamer09-18-05, 09:41 AM | Might want to maybe check Amazon.com, chances are shipping will be free. Not really. If you buy a single suppliment, any one of them, they sell it for around 1/3 of the price, so if you were to just buy Waterdeep, you gotta pay shipping. it's both cruel and genius. |
| Demetrios09-18-05, 11:47 AM | Cyclones? I thought Hurricanes were Atlantic and Typhoons were Pacific. Hurricanes are in the Atlantic and eastern Pacific, typhoons are in the northwest Pacific, and cyclones are in the southwest Pacific and Indian Oceans. |

Hmm, everything I have ordered, as long as it was from Amazon directly has always been free of shipping, and I buy single items. Since it usually is something that isn't commonly available that I pick up. |
| warlockco09-18-05, 04:07 PM | Hurricanes are in the Atlantic and eastern Pacific, typhoons are in the northwest Pacific, and cyclones are in the southwest Pacific and Indian Oceans. Ah, thanks for the clarification. |
| jim931109-18-05, 05:15 PM | interesting. I thought cyclones = tornadoes and typhoons = hurricanes. of course you could call them big windy storms and they would all be just as scary. |
| Yom Beekus09-18-05, 06:48 PM | OK...this may be off topic...but the stuff about cyclones and hurricanes and whatnot left me wonderin'... Is there an equivalent for tsunami's in the Atlantic Ocean? btw...I still haven't been able to locate SoS: Waterdeep lately either. I may have to give in to the modern urge to order online. |

I think a tsunami is a tsunami regardless of which ocean. The only reason it is more connected to the Pacific Ocean, is the Pacific is alot more active in both volcanic and seismic activity. |
| ksu_bond09-19-05, 10:37 AM | Being from Kansas, for those of you not familiar with it is a part of the U.S.'s so-called Tornado Alley. And in the U.S. at least a Cyclone is a tornado that goes out over water...ie. a lake (the Great Lakes will get these from time to time). And I think Warlocko is right about the tsunami, but I do know that they are rare outside of the Indian and Wester Pacific Oceans...it has something to do with currents and tides in the Eastern Pacific and I've always heard that Atlantic is too cold to have them, but again that is just what I've heard. |
| ClobberinTime09-19-05, 11:19 AM | Officially for americans, and the National Oceanographic and Atmospherice Administration (and I am assuming the UN too)- Hurricanes are in the atlantic, any Hurricane like storm in the Pacific is a Typhoon, and Cyclones are tornadoes that take place over water. |
| The ShapeLess One09-19-05, 02:42 PM | And I think Warlocko is right about the tsunami, but I do know that they are rare outside of the Indian and Wester Pacific Oceans...it has something to do with currents and tides in the Eastern Pacific and I've always heard that Atlantic is too cold to have them, but again that is just what I've heard. Tsunami can happen any place that there is sizable seismic activity. It has nothing to do with water temp. |

Which is incorrect. Right now Hurricane Kenneth is located over the Eastern Pacific between Mexico and Hawaii. http://www.weather.com/maps/news/epacstorm11/stormtrack_large.html And you're wrong about NOAA - here are the definitions of "Hurricane", "Typhoon", and "Cyclone" from their own site: http://hurricanes.noaa.gov/ "A hurricane is a severe tropical storm that forms in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Northeast Pacific Ocean east of the dateline, or the South Pacific Ocean east of 160E. Hurricanes need warm tropical oceans, moisture and light winds above them. If the right conditions last long enough, a hurricane can produce violent winds, incredible waves, torrential rains and floods. In other regions of the world, these types of storms have different names. Typhoon — (the Northwest Pacific Ocean west of the dateline) Severe Tropical Cyclone — (the Southwest Pacific Ocean west of 160E or Southeast Indian Ocean east of 90E) Severe Cyclonic Storm — (the North Indian Ocean) Tropical Cyclone — (the Southwest Indian Ocean)" |
| Jerryd09-19-05, 09:43 PM | Being another native of Tornado Alley, I can tell you that tornadoes that form over a body of water are called 'waterspouts', not cyclones. If an off-topic diversion is permitted, I'm curious how frequently tornadoes occur outside of North America. I've never actually heard of any tornadoes occurring on other continents. Dust devils yes, but full-fledged tornadoes no. |
| runestar09-19-05, 10:36 PM | Ouch, where are you located at? Singapore |
| warlockco09-19-05, 11:00 PM | Singapore Ah, in that case your best bet is wait for it or mail-order. |
| spiller09-20-05, 02:49 AM | Thinking about this a little more, you might consider emailing WotC directly and seeing if they can provide you with some information on the WE's probable release date. I got a response from the WotC. They said that I was right, there is no WE, and that it "seems to be still in development". I didn't get any estimated release date, though. |
| The White Sorcerer09-20-05, 04:07 PM | And here I thought that Finland was always the last one to receive new releases... Sometimes, yes, but we did get the Eberron Campaign Setting before the rest of the world. |
| runestar09-21-05, 04:48 AM | There's always some place later...... :( Just as there's always someone stronger etc. |
| spiller09-22-05, 04:19 AM | Sometimes, yes, but we did get the Eberron Campaign Setting before the rest of the world. Really? Wow... although I fail to notice what good did that do to FR fans like me :P |
| Imruphel10-08-05, 12:40 AM | My local borders bookstore told me I probably would have to wait for another 1-2 months before waterdeep even arrives.... :weep: Um, you do realise that any of three Comics Mart stores as well as Paradigm Infinitum get WotC books at about the same time as the US stores get theirs... and each of these shops is cheaper than Borders? |
