Well, I've been tinkering with the idea of going ahead and considering RPG'ing (Forgotten Realms of course.) and I was curious what books I need?

I do want to say any type of books that would help me devolep a Gnome character would be appreicated. I did a little generator thing I found and it created a Gnome with the name Fonkin, a name I was going to use in a story a few years back and decided it was a little coincidential that it happened, so Gnome Character Creating Books are sought for :)

The first thing you should get is the three core rulebook's.

1. Player's Handbook -This one is essential as it has the rules of the game.

2. Dungeon Master's Guide -If you plan to DM this is important and yuo will find
it usefull even as a player.

3. Monster Manual -If you aren't going to Dm you wont need this that bad.
Basically it gives you the stat's for all sorts off monsters to
kill.

Make sure the three core book's are 3.5 edition as all the material published support it. And finally if you are interested in the Realm's, the Forggoten Realms Campaign Setting will have all the info you need to get started.

I also advice you to explore the forums and ask questions. Hope that was usefull. :D

maybe you can try to find "complete arcana, complete divine, complete adventurer, comlete warrior" book. (which is req. for u)
also, Players guide to faerun and races of faerun will be good sources for your character :)

For gnome lore, see Races of Faerūn and "Hin Nobody Knows" (Dragon #269). Be aware that fonkin is some kind of slang or archaic English that means 'a foolish little fellow'; Gary Gygax used it for the pregenerated (elven) character Fonkin Hoddypeak in G1-3. Look at the older (some are free downloads here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads)) and current Realms sourcebooks before looking at the dispensable non-Realms Complete books.

To play you basically need the Player Manual 3.5.
In general the Dungeon Master Guide 3.5 is very helpfull too.

Specific books for the Forgotten Realms:
Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting
Player Guide to Faerun

Optional books you might like:
Complete Divine, Complete Arcane, Complete Adventurer, Complete Warrior
Races of Stone (I think this is the one with Gnomes and Dwarves, don't have it), maybe Races of the Wild, Races of Destiny.

Forgotten Realms Specific optional books:
Silver Marches
Races of Faerun

But now we're in the range of 400-500 Dollar/Euro, things can get expensive.

Wow, 400-500 Hundred. Quiet pricey...not that I always have to buy new...

Well, I'll have to write this information down and go from there. I thank everyone :)
