We just started a campain and I got to play Spellfire Wielder, and I was thinking if that could work well with some kind of fighter?

Or do you guys think that as a spellfire wielder you should be wiz/sorc?

My thoghts were that as a spellfire channler you dont get any +1 lvl for spells...

So you would lose quite alot if you are wizard and so I was thinking what if you go "randomfighterclass" then you would gain healing, spellprotection (absorbing spells), fly, range blast....

The downside of all this is that as a channler you only get d4 HD but I guess I have to live with that since I want to boost my con alot maybe it will even out.

So what do you guys think?

And also what class do you think I should have exept from Spellfire Channler.

I currently DM a cleric of Mystra 17/spellfire channeler 4, and he's worked out quite well. You could certainly go wizard or sorcerer with the channeler. The cleric above decided to focus more on his cleric levels after he achieved a relatively decent grasp of spellfire. With a CON of 20, he can store up to 60 levels without much danger to anyone else. I usually start him out with 20 levels at the beginning of any game session. From there he can drain items and absorb party spells until he's juiced up.

I honestly don't know how one would fashion a fighter/channeler. I'm sure there are feat combinations and other possibilities, like a ranger/channeler. Those would be interesting combinations.

It could work, but in regards for a fighter type, the 8 ranks of concentration required can be a hard hit of skill points, as it would take 16 skill points unless there is at least one level of an spell caster.
Not trying to discurage, as I've been thinking about this recently.
It's something to consider.

Paladin of Mystra would be cool. and a ranger would be sweet. But the skill requirements mean that fighters & Barbarians would have a hard time getting there.

Plus, what kind of self-respecting barbarian whould get 8 ranks in concentration anyway;) .

But a ranger would be rather cool, as would a paladin. BUt i'd prefer a ranger. (I like rangers!)

actually a ranger has concentration as a class skill and has more skill points than most other fighters so its a very nice matchup.

you need 3 or 4 levels in SFW and everything else can go into ranger and your pretty well set.

Hmm, I really need to learn that 3.5 Ranger better then I do....
(Paladin has Concentration as a class skill also...)

Actually, I think it works pretty well. I had a character named Snowfire who is a Fighter7/SW10. I knew I wanted to play a Spellfire wielder and had DM approval. Also we started at a higher level. So I blew the skill points as needed to be able to take the PrC as soon as possible. Finished it out and went back to fighter.

I do have a con boosting magic item and she's a little light on HP compared to the other characters but it seems to work out well.

I'd suggest really concentrating on the RP side of this. Where does the character think the power comes from? Do they hide it? Flaunt it?

Hope that helps.
