| Jager01-16-04, 06:02 PM | Here's an odd one for you all: Would a FR sorcerer granted Spellfire use by the DM as a spell-like feat, retain that if she was trapped in Ravenloft? I haven't seen much in the Ravenloft manuals about the weave and so forth. in our game, the character has no levels in SF wielder, but just for story purposes. He can absorb = to Con and use for healing, 1D6 dmg, and Detect Magic at will. What do you think? :embarrass |
| Iakhovas01-16-04, 07:05 PM | Spellcasters from Toril are able to cast spells in other planes where the Weave is not present so I don't see why the demiplane of dread would be any different. |
| Crust01-16-04, 07:08 PM | I'd allow it. |
| Kuje3101-16-04, 07:22 PM | I'd allow it also and basically for the same reasons as the others said. :) |
| Shemeska the Marauder01-16-04, 08:30 PM | No weave doesn't hinder FR casters off of Toril really, so I'll parrot what everyone else has said. An evil part of me however might include some fiddling on the part of the Dark Powers though if the spellfire wielder went nuts with the ability inside RL. |
| Wooly Rupert01-16-04, 08:32 PM | So long as the character had it before, I'd allow them to keep using it. However, I'd not allow it if they didn't already have it. |
| Another Gnome01-17-04, 02:49 AM | Mechanically I'd allow it as well, but if one interpretes spellfire as energy drawn from the Weave in particular (as is said in some sources, instead of calling it actual raw magic), it wouldn't work even on the basic Torilian outer planes. |
| Amoun01-17-04, 05:19 AM | I would have to agree with Another Gnome... personally I disallow spellfire out of Toril or Dweamorheart (is that how you spell it? the place where Mystra is anyway)... For game balance purposes I dont believe spellfire is all that powerful, so if you interpret spellfire as raw magical energy then use away on any plane :) whatever works for ya |
| Jager01-17-04, 01:59 PM | thanks a bunch. i sort of wanted to run a 3ed "from the shadows (2nd ed)" at some point, which makes a point of making the PCs powerless, therefore Spellfire could be one of those unbalancing things. |
