| Darth_Singe10-21-03, 01:59 AM | Okay, the evil wizards throws a fireball at my party. the pc with spellfire has readied an action to absorb the spell. does the fireball get absorbed completely? or does everyone take damage or what happens? |
| Tempus66510-21-03, 03:49 AM | You can never absorb a Fireball. Absorbing spells thorugh Spellfire works like a Rod of Absorption. This Rod can only be used to absorb single-target spells or rays, so can Spellfire. Alas, no Fireball-sucking :( |

| loki8710-21-03, 12:46 PM | I've house-ruled Spellfire to be more true to the novels and earlier editions, but I would never allow a PC to wield such power. Unless everyone in the party has it (which is ridiculous), even the nerfed 3e version completely unbalances the game. |

Every edition has its faults and its strengths. I also DM a 3e game but it's not really "core balanced rules." As long as the PC's are having fun, rules come second or even third and balance is not needed, that is for a DM to do, if it's needed at all. (Maybe that is my stick in the mud, old school thoughts from the old additions). |
