Looking for general advice. I THINK she wants to play an elf, and a spellcaster, and all she's working with on her in is the SRD. I have the FRCS, the 3.5 PHB, the 3rd Edition Dugeon Master's Guide and Monsters Manual, Races of Faerun, the Silver Marches, and the SRD.

Perhaps I was too vague. It will be a solo game, of course, and I think she wants to play an Avariel elf. Not sure what class yet (she's reading up on the SRD). I'll most likely set it in the Silver Marches area since I'm most familiar with that region. This is also my first time DMing.

Maybe you want to have a look at my Online Drow Campaign (http://games.dnd-gate.de/index.php?showforum=7) and see how it works?

Message Board gaming is fine if you are a newbi, as you usually have more time to develope a story, give replies and make description ... especially if you have links to pics of landscapes, castles and the like. The game is - depending on the posters - a bit more sluggish than chat games and far more sluggish than the game at the table. But this is not always a bad thing.

Avariel are winged elves. They have stats in Races of Faerun.

You have all the FR-specific books. So ask her what sort of character she wants to play, and post her the details of any feats or prestige classes that might help her with her character concept.
