Starting on the right foot [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-08-05, 02:27 AM I am going to be starting a new campaign in the next few months. The campaign I am currently playing in, is going to be coming to a conclusion (a great stopping point instead of just dying off. Good stuff :). This will give me time to get a great number of things in order, maps, timeline, NPC's , villens, etc.
The reason for this Thread is I would like some feedback on where to start and what to include. 3.5 is new to me and I haven't ran the Realms since the timeline jump.
Now, I am open to all suggestion and they will be appreciated but, I will give you some ideas of which direction I am going with for the campaign.

The Dales (not decided which yet).

Timeline about 1375, jumping ahead a few years to change some things

Lots of Zhent activity

and yes the Drow in the forest

I have just been thinking about it in my head and have noting down on paper yet so, feel free to change my mindflare.
Hopefuly your suggestion will help more than just this old Dalesmen.

02-08-05, 02:54 AM Just a couple of basic questions:
1) Are the players going to start off at 1st level?
2) Do you know what the party will consist of?

Some other questions:
3) How relevant to the campaign will the Drow be?
4) How relevant to the campaign will the Zhents be?
5) Are the Elves going to try and reclaim/repel the Drow intruders from Cormanthyr?

1) Yes, I love starting PC's out at 1st level. It really helps with the charector develpment. Starting from nothng and all.

2) No, and I don't care what they play we have played together for a while and "usually" have a ballanced party. I don't like PC elves in FR but, other than that I don't care. I don't know what I should and should not restrict at first or at all.

3-4) Zhents will be very relevant and maybe enteract with the Drow at some point. I will probably introduce both early but, save the drow when they are higher lever.

5) I don't think the Elves will reclaim Cormanthyr. I like the Drow there for easy acsess. Elves as a whole only make up about a 5% of the population and are allways over played.
