A few suggestions for all of us posting in these forums.

Thread Titles- Try to keep them relevant and to the point. "I need info"; "I have a question"; "missing books"; ect. These do not really catch the eye. Better would be: "Need Info on Tyr"; "Question about Threskel"; "need info from Dragons of Faerun"; so on. If it is a question about Psionics, Incarnum, Corruption, Action Points or any other such optional rules it is best to write that in the title. ie "Question about Cereberiliths-Psionics." Even better is referencing a specific source book. "Mantles in the Realms- Complete Psion." All of this applies to threads not about questions too.

Novels- Please mention Novel or Spoiler in thread titles about books or book series. Some people are new here and not everyone will know that a thread titled Return of the Archwizards or the Last Mythal is going to be about information from the novels. Example: War of the Spider Queen- Spoilers

Language- DnD and even the Forgotten Realms has its own specific lingo. It is to be expected to be in use here. Do not hesitate to ask for a definition of something. Do not insult people who are not familiar with a term. Leet speak/net talk/chat shorthand or whatever is largely looked upon as disruptive. Emoticons smileys and a few acronyms such as lol are inevitable and are ingrained in the board system. Doing an entire post in leet however is a good way to be ignored. Remember that many of the regular posters are not necessarily big into computer socialization. Proper grammar and spelling is preferred yet I believe we all typo and most of us are not english majors. No offense to those who are;) Please be understanding of those who are less than perfect. Corrections are and asking someone to work on their spelling is fine, calling someone an idiot for poor spelling skills is unneeded. This is an English forum. As such keep conversations in English. A quote or a brief hello back and forth in another language is understandable and wanted. Perhaps provide a translation for those of us who only speak English.

Just a few thoughts and suggestions. I know I fail to follow this at times. Especially my grammar.

Very well put.

I myself am newbie in the actual campaign of FR but have almost read all the novels. I am a newbie considering these posts and find your outlook very refreshing.

Although I'm a newb to THESE boards, I've been around the block a few times. ;)

Everything you said is correct, and should be the practice of anyone with experience on boards made up of mature posters. I get a feel for a board after just a few posts and avoid those that have a lot of your 'do nots' going on. Although many of us take etiquette here for granted, it is good to let true 'nubs' (;) ) know the score.

Speak like an idiot = being treated like an idiot.
