| Nightbluejh05-03-07, 03:43 PM | I am looking for a feat I could swear I saw some where, and of course, can not find now, when I need it. It is a feat for summoning that, I believe, allows a summoned creature to act in the first round it is summoned and I think the pre reqs. are spell focus conjuration and augment summoning. Anyone know what I am thinking of and where I can find it? |
| Mr.Sinister05-03-07, 07:45 PM | No need for a feat. ;) If you read carefully the spell's description, it says that the creature appears and acts immediately on your turn. Maybe you're thinking about some other effect? |
| Nightbluejh05-03-07, 09:56 PM | Ahh, yea I should re-word that. In my current campaign, because summon monster takes a full round to cast, the DM just house rules that the summoned creature is "Stunned" in the round that it is summoned. So the feat I am looking for basically shortens the casting time. I also remember that this feat was in the sam book that intorduced Summoning as a domain. |
| Dielzen05-03-07, 10:33 PM | It takes you a full round to cast a summon spell (so the monster appears right before your action next round) and the creature is stunned the first round??? So a 1st level conjurer casting Summon 1 = 1 stunned creature for 1 round then it disappears? Wow, that's uhh....nonsensical. Is your DM treating a round casting time as a FRA instead of a full round to cast? If so, the spell is still depowered, but it gives the caster more options, so it's not that bad of a nerf (now you can more more than 5ft and chances of being interrupted are quite slim) |
| Nightbluejh05-03-07, 11:17 PM | No,no,no I wouldn't be playing a summoner if that was the case... Normally, it takes a full round to cast Summon Monster X, in our game, in the round that the summoner casts Summon Monster X the creature appears, but it is stunned and can take no action. |
| Dielzen05-03-07, 11:20 PM | So my final paragraph applies -- still a nerf but not as bad. Your summon is essentially canon fodder at that point, unless you have Greenbound, which is one of the most powerful feats in the game for a summoner. |

It's called Rapid Spell and is found either in Complete Divine or Complete Arcane. |
| Nightbluejh05-04-07, 02:31 PM | What does the Greenbound do for a pc?? |
| Red_Wizard05-04-07, 04:01 PM | Nothing for a wizard. You need to be a Druid or a Cleric to use it. |
| Nightbluejh05-04-07, 05:07 PM | So what does it do for a Druid or Cleric? and yes I believe it is Rapid Spell that I was looking for, thanks! |
| Dielzen05-04-07, 05:46 PM | It adds a template to your summons, the short of it -- +6 AC DR 10/magic and slashing Fast Healing 3 60' Tremorsense Cold/Electricity Resist 10 +s to 4 stats (3 of which are combat stats) + to CHA, which it's spelllikes are based on This feat is available to anyone who can cast a summon nature's ally spell (no other pre-reqs) |

But besides game mechanics, the feat has some kind of a roleplaying requirement, as it is mostly forgotten lore... It can be found in Lost Empires of Faerūn I think. Still, I find it kinda weird that you should take a feat to coutermeasure some houserule... Is your DM ok with this feat selection? If so, why not try to convince him to go RAW... You cast for a round, and then on your next turn, the creature appears and you both act. |
