Super Adventure Prestige Classes? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-26-07, 03:50 PM I'm going to run an online (MapTool) Forgotten Realms game based on the new mega adventure trilogy (Cormyr/Shadowdale/Anauroch). We have several campaigns going on right now, so for this one I (again) wanted to try something different.

Rather than create a character from scratch I asked everyone to pick a Prestige Class first. Characters must be designed so they can enter the PrC as soon as possible. Characters cannot exit the prestige class until they finish it.

I sent the group this list for an overview:

Which prestige classes do you think are "most appropriate" for this series of adventures? Granted, the second and third books have not come out yet but which PrCs would be good for these regions? I'm looking of the most regional appropriate PrCs.

Also, I don't have the Cormyr book yet, so does anyone know if there are any PC options in the book at all? Any suggestions in the book for PrCs?

This is the first time I've required Prestige Classes for everyone in the group. I'm hoping it helps bring out the flavor of the campaign setting. Has anyone done anything like this? How did it work out?

03-26-07, 04:09 PM For a human fighter, a good prc could be the Purple Dragon Knight, they are members of Cormyr's army. For arcane Spellcasters the War Wizard of Cormyr could be very appealing.

Any suggestions for cleric or rogue? Anything from Shadowdale or Anauroch?

03-26-07, 11:38 PM Battle Priest of Cormyr is pretty cool. The only down side is no turning advancement and 60% spell advancement (3 of 5 levels).

Morninglord of Lathander is quite nice. I think a straight cleric can get it by 6th level with a touch of cross class perform.

Mystra's Mystic Rangers could be a good fit. Mystic thuerge (sp?) strikes me as a compelling choice.

The various Harper PrCs would all be a good fit.

I'm not sure what would be helpfull for the rogue. I don't care for most of the rogue oriented PrCs.

03-27-07, 01:25 PM Knight of the Weave from Champions of Valor, its an abjuration specialized, 10 level PRC. It also reduces your armor check penalties for casting in armor.

I think you're thinking of the Shooting Star which is ranger substitution levels -- 3, 4, 8, 11 & 14 -- from Champions of Valor. They're members of the Order of the Shooting Star and are essentially scouts and spies and troubleshooters for Mystra's church. Taken with the Sword of the Arcane Order feat from the same book it could be pretty potent.

We've tried a few online tools (Fantasy Grounds, OpenRPG, klooge) but we think this one's the best so far (and you can't beat the price).
