We know Drizzt and Elminster survive because they're both sources of $$$.

But I hope not all the Seven Sisters are dead.

I could do without the Simbul. Sylune is tragic but she sort of was making a mockery of her own sacrifice.

Sucks about Mystra. I really liked the whole Mystra/Kelemvor/Cyric thing. I hate the thought of that little bastard Cyric beating her.

lol, I thought I'd put that, but apparently what I was thinking at the time, and what I actually typed were two separate things. :P

Thanks for adding. ;)

Yes, but we know those don't count.

At least, not to WotC.

... depends on how long the time skip is. Maybe the PCs will just be older.

I think that many of the NPC deaths might be linked to:
1. Shar's plans, that include the death of Mystra.
2. People taking advantage of the situation.
3. Random bad luck.

I think its mostly wizards who'll be in the greatest danger during the spell plague, both from unstable magic, insanity, and the enemies that will now be able to kill them... and the Sisters and such might be victims of Shar's plans.

Wonder what'll happen to the Shades. I have the impression that Netheril survives, but unstable magic(especially if the shadow-weave is ignored) should mean that enclaves should once more be falling to the ground, unless Telamont has linked the mythallar to some extra-planar source(which would be sensible since no one would want to risk a repeat of Netheril's fall)

Updated.

FYI---we're making AMPLE progress to getting to that 30 Deity mark. The Mulhorandi Pantheon, the Drow Pantheon's almost total extinction, and the various single murders of gods is already bringing us close to the 30 number we're all dreading.

Edit: Tymora and Amaunator are now Core Deities.

BTW, the Revenancer is called Kiaransalee. I wonder whether they will use this DotUD one-for-all-and-the-other-info-is-just-rubbish pantheon thing for the drow, and/or leave them with this "normal" all-for-everyone deities like in the "Core setting" (i.e. Lolth can be a patron of (CE) thieves, no matter of race) if they do not like Lolth.

Anyway, in due course, some Banshee Knights will enter the Realms again and revive Kiaransalee's cult. If it was possible with that goatheaded demon thing, it is possible with a deity.

But odd question, yes, it does bear thinking about.

Methinks TGHotR mentions some long lost artifact of the faiths of the Sun God returning, and there is a large "heretic" drive amongst the Lathandrians in the Twilight War trilogy, where Lathandrians follow some divinations that proclaim the return of the Sun God is at hand. That said, according to Paul S. Kemp, the novel was not Spellplague or 4E driven, though that reply came with regard to the Shadowstorm.

You know what though, that's fine by me. Lathander, IMO, has always been the 'la-te-da', skip through the tulips guy that always hanging out with Chauntea. The sort of deity that would sing "we are the world" and give out hugs. Where as Amaunator is more straight foward with bringing his light to root out undead and in a kick-@ss, no non-sense way. Sure, he can be kind to those who need healing, his clergy, farmers, children, and favor the pure of heart but can also be stern and have an unyielding manner that says: "don't $%&@ with me, or you'll get a searing line if fire to the face!"

We're running out of body bags!

I could ask a friend who knows a few driders whether they have time and pop in with a few cocoon and all?

@ Diffan ... yep, Lathander covers just one part of the day, much like Selūne just "covers" the moon. Whether there was a pressing need to have a deity of the day though, a new (waht is it in Core?) Pelor? It's not a settings needs to cover everything that there is.

And let's note that even NG Lathander could be vicious and zealous when he wanted to be. We have more than any canon examples of that (Dawn Cataclysm, the wonderful bit in Cult of the Dragon where his Avatar wastes Sammaster, his specialty priests, etc.)

I prefer Law to Neutrality, in general, and I do like Amaunator, but... I think they're really going overboard on their themes, here. Only harsh, drastic Good allowed - edgy good. And the vilest of vile vile cruel corrupt evils.

I thought they were trying not to highlight alignment?

And they killed Nobanion in my heart. :(
Charles Phipps

02-29-08, 11:22 AM
No offense, but those of us who want a "Not watered down" Neutral Good God are taking a hit here.

Lathander was THE God of Arrogant Good.

"Don't touch me! I'm super important!"
-Greatest Lathander Priest line ever.

Sure, he can be kind to those who need healing, his clergy, farmers, children, and favor the pure of heart but can also be stern and have an unyielding manner that says: "don't $%&@ with me, or you'll get a searing line if fire to the face!"

Which is ironic, since in my games, the PCs have been helping the hippies root out the Risen Sun heretics as a bunch of LN and LE :censored:. Basically, Amaunator represented a side of Lathander best destroyed utterly.

So....awkward.

Aren't the D&D Experience previews for 4e set in the Living FR? The Amaunator and Tymora displayed on the preview char. sheets aren't necessarily new core deities, but *just* ordinary FR deities?

Just my 2 coppers...

Don't get me wrong. I like Lathander, but If I were to choose between him and Amaunator, Amaunator wins. Hands down.

This HAS to be a quote from a Baldur's Gate game? :D

Yea, Lathander could get down with the smiting goodness (espically aganst undead).

I had thought the same thing about alignment. I'm not sorry to see it go, but what will my Pally do now about his detect evil? :(

You mean Core FR deities. I think you should be careful about assuming that core 4E deities (for the "core" setting) are also going to be in the FR setting.

Also, if Alusair has an ambiguous fate, she can't really be called a confirmed survivor.

Good point. I would like to mention, though, that while alignment won't mean much as far as rules and mechanics are concerned, they are trying to make it mean more from a roleplaying standpoint.

By the way, I learned this from Worlds and Monsters.:)

And they killed Nobanion in my heart. :(

the paladinson will likely die of old age

All of the above characters have used potions of longevity though. Mirt and Durnan in particular are already older than a human should be.

azoun the V of old age

By the time the 4E FR campaign setting starts (1479 DR), he is dead, yes.

02-29-08, 06:09 PM
ahh yes longevity magics, they do have this tendency to fail at the worst of times......... and they are how old now?

the former queen of cormyr is dead

caldeni is dead

that annoying cleric of lathander down in beregost will be dead, the one who says dont touch me im super important, he will be dead.

that deep gnome dude with the hammer and pick for hands will be dead( likely in the next 50 years)

the leader of the flaming fist and duke of baldur's gate will be dead

okay, we are now out of body bags, lets cremate them now and give them a warrior's funeral and send their ashes in to the four winds.

my characters are off to that time portal

But the point is, nothing about them has been confirmed yet.

If one is going to bother with a list about confirmed details, then we need to avoid making suppositions, as that defeats the whole purpose.

*MULHORAND* is gone, R_F.

There's not much point in there being a Mulhorandi Pantheon if there entirety body of worshipers and Egyptian themed culture is on another planet somewhere.

No it's not.

You are confusing Mulhorand with Unther.

No, I'm well aware Unther was replaced by Dragonborn.

Mulhorand was replaced by another place and species.
