I'm sorry if this info is easily found but I spent some time looking and can't figure it out.

I have the original 3rd edition rule books. I have the FR core hardback 3rd edition rulebook

Was the forgotten realms hardback core rulebook updated for 3.5? is there a new 3/5 edition of this book?

How about for all of the other material like manual of the planes etc. are all these books, if I bought them now, 3.5? or are they 3.0?

Thanks.

The new Players Guide to Faerun updates a number of the "mechanical" parts of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting book to 3.5, and the we enhancement just posted on the Wizards site updates the monsters from all of the 3.0 Forgotten Realms books.

All the flavour text (the bulk of the FRCS) remains relevant.

As for other books, basic 3.5 updates to rulebooks like the Manual of the Plans are somewhere on the Wizards site. These are just like errata files, listing specific changes.

Many posters won't agree with me, but I don't think the 3.0/3.5 difference is a big issue, as long as you clarify particular things you know you'll need in advance.

I think the whole 3.5 affair is unfortunatley confusing. I'll either stick with the 3rd books I have or go back to second :(

I just don't care for having a bunch of only marginally compatible products out there, that I have to download and use obscure errata to fix.

If anything, the diffrence between 3.0 and 3.5 are marginal. Using 3.0 products in 3.5 is far from a problem.

Yep, that's what I'm saying.

If a 3.0/3.5 difference is PC related, it can be sorted out out-of-game.

If it is NPC/monster related, unless it contradicts something that has happened within your game already, it shouldn't matter.

Well thank you for all of the input everyone. I don't really see a need to upgrad eto 3.5 so I will stick to 3.0 for now!

According to the intro of the Player's Guide to Faerun, the PGtF is the official update for chapter 1-2 of the FRCS (and the web enhancement the update for chapter 9), the remaining chapters of the FRCS are still valid for 3.5e as they are.

If you are perfectly comfortable playing under the 3e rules, then don't buy the PG.

Try www.dragonworld.de, they're shipping the book since the 12th March.

It should land in my Berlin post-box today! :D

Sorry I wan't more clear.

What I meant was, does this book update the prestige classes that are in the FRCS? Or do all of those already work with 3.5?

It leaves out the Archmage, Hierophant and Red Wizard- all of which have already been updated in the 3.5 DMG- and the Harper Scout and Guild Thief are now the Harper Agent and Shadow Thief of Amn, respectively.
