| Technomancer03-06-04, 03:20 PM | I had this crazy idea for a fallen paladin. First off he is an Aasimar paladin of either Torm or Tyr. Then i was going to have something happen to him that he would forsake the very ideals he was once a champion of. I was thinking Cyric/Bane could have something to do with this. I just need an event that could cause this. I was thinking maybe an item corrupts him. I was going to use this as an NPC villian in the campaign i am running. Any ideas? Thanks -Tech- |

So the Mayor gathers a mob of villagers and goes towards the residence or the temple this item is located in. They demand the item and of course the paladin says no, they attack the building and the paladin begins killing scores of villagers (they are desperate they would keep fighting heh)... Then while he is killing these would-be thieves he accidently kills a mother holding 2 children. This drives him over the edge and then he realizes the need for "tyranny" or the innevitability of "strife" :p Best I could come up with in 5 minutes hehe, hope it helps |

They are just starting to expand outward from Mulhonrond, so the believers are realativally unknown. Add to the fact that rumors will alway go before the expansion, maybe the townspeople hear rumors that lycanthropes are the only believers of those gods. (In part is a true rumor, but only a small part) This paladin is travelling with a convoy, group of children, something, and the townspeople attack the group. The paladin is only acting in self defense so everything is okay so far. But maybe one of the townspeople cuts down one of the paladins friend, relative, wife, etc. and the paladin goes into a rampage and before he realizes what is happening, he has left a trail of destruction behind him including women and children. So in disgrace he goes off alone and lives in shame trying to attone, but he cannot. (I know, shades of Drizzt). So when he realizes his god abandons him, he starts his campaign of destruction against the people that caused his shame. So now, you can use whatever pantheon happens to be in the area (Faerun, Mulholrond, etc.) A good choice for an evil diety would be one whose portfolio is being threatened by the expanding Mulholrondian nation. As future character twists, make one of the PC's be from Mulholrond and when the paladin\blackguard is driven from the new area, have him return home to wreak havoc there as well. Hope you like the idea, and sorry if I got long winded. |
