Please bear with me, this is my first thread.
I have never played useing the Forgotten Realms format, but I love reading the books & novels.
My Question is, will the change to the 4th edition in the games change the books & novels?
I still have a lot of books to read, but I don't want "my world" to change just because the game is changing.
Does anyone else feel the same way?

Yes the novels will be changing as well. So 4ED will change your world.

-After 4e debuts, the novel line will follow the timeline increase.

That wasn't the answer I was hoping for, but thanks.
At least I still have the old books too read.

And in them Uber characters will be introduced. With some players wanting them to come in and save the day...

-Indeed.

-Did I ever mention how I hate when people use the term 'uber', in reference to something powerful?

Since they mention that the primary reason for the new Realms was the authors, it makes sense that they are going to advance the timeline as well. Going from past indications (not exactly something that is easy to do at present) I seriously doubt that there are going to be any novels set in the past or in the "Classic" Realms.

They have also more-or-less confirmed the following:
-There will continue to be RSEs
-Cyric is coming back before long

And, again given past history, I expect to see a few good novels (by our old Realms favorites that stick around) and a lot of crappy novels filled with bizarre or inconsistant lore.

-Did I ever mention how I hate when people use the term 'uber', in reference to something powerful?Tell me about it. First, it's an error for über. Then, half the time they don't even know it's largely from Übermensch, and are thus blindly making a grotesquely tasteless reference to philosophy that fed into the Third Reich.

-Ignorance knows no bounds...(Not referring to anyone in particular, just the subculture that has appropriated the term 'uber' into it's vernacular in general)

I actually sort of like the idea of the Ubermensch. I've only read excerpts from "A Will to Power," but one of those excerpts describes my perfect ideal of a relationship, romantically.

Granted, I love Nietzsche. And I love the fact that he hated the Nazis. It's a travesty that his manuscripts were so altered and then used by them for propaganda.

-Do you understand what Nietzsche meant when he said G-d is dead? (Not Dan, Ken)

To be fair, they've said that the novels will be easing up on the RSEs for a while. But that's a stated goal--we don't know how if things will change later.

-An article concerning the 2e to 3e transition said the same thing- that the RSEs would ease up. Oops.

RSEs?

-Realm Shaking Events. An event in a novel/sourcebook that has widespread and lasting consequences on the setting as a whole.

Only most of them don't impact the setting in any meaningful way, as other authors ignore them.

That's the irony if it, yes. We'll know how they ended before reading the novels since the effects will be in the FRCG (Campaign Setting sound much better).

-All of them? No.

-Third-Edition Forgotten Realms is already over, as there are no sourcebooks or anything slated to be released between now and the debut of 4e. So, what you see is what you've got.
