09-19-05, 10:33 AM Who is the greatest swordsperson in the forgotten realms? We are excluding certain magical items for this discussion (any items that give the fighter an unnatural advantage).

I.e. Drizzt (without his panther, magic bracers, or his natural drow powers) Icingdeath and Twinkle are still allowed as he still must be better then his opponant to make them work.

Highest BAB?
Highest level in melee classes?

Too many ways to do it statistically, then of course you have the fanboys "Drizzt r0xxorz!" reply. (Side note, I like Drizzt, was just an example)

09-20-05, 11:19 AM You've both got it wrong. Kilthanas WAS the greatest, until his "doomstrike" was unfortunately misdirected. And everyone knows it takes 1,000 years to perfect the Falling Leaves strike; Talindra has barely begun.

The GREATEST swordsman of the Realms is Lord Danthos Irlingstar, Raging Rapier Extraordinare!

09-20-05, 04:16 PM Oh please, Lord Danthos Irlingstar has become a laughingstock every since Eleint when he lost his blade and his dignity (having your drawers pulled down and being spanked with the flat of your own blade in Virgin’s Square will do that to you) to the Buckleswashers. I believe there was something about him belittling (pun intended) their size that led to the aforementioned altercation.

Now if you want a true duelist, you should visit Baryon Fullsen the Patient. He’s the one who taught Lord Danthos how to properly hold a blade and not wet his pants every time he was challenged to a duel. He’s also rumored to have instructed Geiryn Stepping, the man who outran Asfalanarax (“Ashfall”), the red dragon of Black Falls, as well as Verana the Vixen who takes great delight in carving her initial into men's sensitive areas. So if you’re looking for an instructor or you really want to be foolish and challenge him to a duel, he can be found in his villa/training arena, the Skewered Fools, just north of Dragonscale Street in Raven’s Bluff.

On topic: As you can see Kiph, being the greatest is subjective. Each of them believes to be the greatest and to a certain extent they are right. If I was a 20th-level fighter in a game fighting Drizzt, my only worry would be if I would have the enough hit points left to take on King Bruenor and Wulfgar after I was done with Drizzt. However if I was a 20th-level fighter in one of Salvatore's novels fighting Drizzt, my only worry would be if my death would be quick. I hope you understand at what I'm getting at.

and there is a swordtechnique you need 1000 years for perfecting? tell me more :) and what elves can become so old? golden ones?

In the old rules (1E and 2E), Elves didn't die of old age in the Realms.
They could get tired of life and just will themselves to pass on to the next realm, but they didn't die of old age.

Actually the calishite assassin known as Thyruin of the White Flowers (The North boxed set - The Wilderness, p.75) would be more powerful than Shuruppak. At least in my humble opinion. :)

i just read the other thread by kirkland (the one that has been closed before i could answer anything) where we are said to be rude etc.

sorry, i really don`t understand that. IMO the most rude comment in this thread was made by ME, and i just asked how many other threads with that name exist to the guys who KNOW that!!! i really didn`t found anything worse :confused: if i really offended somebody with that bit of sarcasm not taller then the cough of a mouse, i am really sorry. but i think somebody who is touched by a phrase like that should wait with looking into the fiend folio or book of vile darkness... and i am serious about that. some points of d&d really are only for adults...

but i have a real problem with one point: there is a thread out there called "is your DM a nazi"... and nobody cares about that?! sorry, i don`t have the needed english terms on hand for that right now, but i think somebody may be too "empfindlich" and the other point is just a case of "Doppelmoral"

At any rate, that other thread was closed--either due to the volatile nature of the discussion or because the run-on sentence meter indicated imminent message board meltdown status had been reached. :D

Ah yes, the powerful Stick-Blade techniques; taught only by the blind beggar Rathe in the back alleys of the Dock Ward of Waterdeep. They say he teaches anyone to defend themselves with naught but a mere stick at his disposal for little to no reward. With the dangers of the back streets, he believes everyone should be capable of defending ones self against the evils of slavers, thieves and other ruffians that prowl the alleys and shadows.

They say he was once a captain of Waterdeep’s Watch, best blade in the city, before a battle with a particularly nasty necromancer (You'd have to ask him about that tale) left him with a blindness no magic could cure. He took to drinking in his depression, lost his commission, and disappeared into the city.

Or so the stories go.

It's said that he's taken his knowledge of martial weapons and applied it to everyday items, though in paticular, sticks and long pieces of wood. Making a person trained in such a school always armed no matter where they go.

And he takes on any student willing to learn as they say he judges a person not on their appearance but their spirit; as is obvious by his training a kobold. However many joke about the fact that he doesn't judge on appearance because he cannot see. A joke that usually ends with the teller receiving a smack in the back of the head for his troubles by Rathe.

Blind but not deaf

Olga was his most promising student before she had to leave midway through her training to defend her clan against the rampaging hordes in Amn. She hopes to return someday to complete her training with him.

Plop Wee Wee Willie Dungman
87th level cardboard cutout
Attack: 2001, 2001, 2001, 6 (he kind of runs out of steam in long fights)
Armour Class: 8 (or 888 on a good day)
Damage: 213d5 (on account of him liking to be awkward)
HPs: 21,003
CR: well, er, um, 87 plus um... let's see +4 for being a cardboard cutout... +6 for having a whopping nasty huge sword... +3 'cos I like him... so I work that out at... 25!

Special attacks: his Underpants. Seriously. He throws these babies at you and- Man! You're going to be in a state!

Definitely the best swordsperson out there and I know for the fact that no one will ever come up with anything to beat him.

11-07-05, 02:39 AM Hamesetis is the realms all purpose best fighter hands down, he doesn't need a stinking magical weapon or armor to kick anybody's ass, just ask that last drocolich that he beat the hell out of with a stick, and he was magically crippled at the time, with one hand tied behind his back....the Red Wizards of Thay lost a lot of money on that gladiator pit fight they thought they had that fight fixed in there favor...

Hamesetis is the closet thing to a Realms version of a Dark Sun Gladiator, plus everybody knows no man or beast has ever defeated him, even when the red Wizo's forced him to fight weaponless and crippled he still pulled off the impossible hundreds of times and defeated everything they could find or conjurer up to face him...

Hamesetis was secretly purchased by the God Set from the Red Wizo's, Set then healed him of all the afflictions they did to him and then granted him many permanet powers and made him his chosen...

Hamesetis is one of the realms most honorable warriors but serves Set loyaly, he will gladly give you a fair even fight, and then he will kill you quickly to spare you as little pain as possible, Set also granted him full Assassin abilities and Class levels to enhance his already formidable skills, but he really dislikes ever having to use them...

Hamesetis is now a member of the realms most deadliest adventuring party, The Fangs of Set Adventurers, they usual can be found in the Mulhorand region, and all the Fangs memebers keep there own personal abodes hidden in the Raurin Desert, a place everyone fears to tread, especially since Set himself stalks the burning sands of that horrid place...

Hamesetis and the rest of the Fangs or no strangers at dealing with powerfull people, they grew up in a land were many gods walked the streets of there homland before the ToT...oh and Hamesetis is not even the second or third most powerfull memeber of the Fangs, any party meeting this group had better mind the manners...the Fangs leader is so deadly that at one point he conspired to kill off the entire Mulhorandi, and Untheric pantheon of Gods, and had actually engineered the assination of the God Horus-Re the leader of the Mulhorandi Pantheon right before the ToT hit

Tsk...tsk..tsk...Everyone knows it's Dill Pickledipper III, the half pickled cucumber paragon noble. His dillweed sword of skewing +5 is awesome. Not to mention rather useful for roasting weiners.

Hamesetis is now a member of the realms most deadliest adventuring party, The Fangs of Set Adventurers, they usual can be found in the Mulhorand region, and all the Fangs memebers keep there own personal abodes hidden in the Raurin Desert, a place everyone fears to tread, especially since Set himself stalks the burning sands of that horrid place... Hamesetis and the rest of the Fangs or no strangers at dealing with powerfull people, they grew up in a land were many gods walked the streets of there homland before the ToT...oh and Hamesetis is not even the second or third most powerfull memeber of the Fangs, any party meeting this group had better mind the manners...the Fangs leader is so deadly that at one point he conspired to kill off the entire Mulhorandi, and Untheric pantheon of Gods, and had actually engineered the assination of the God Horus-Re the leader of the Mulhorandi Pantheon right before the ToT hit
Karsus the Mad 11-07-05, 12:31 PM	Well, if we're all just making up silly characters and assigning them uber abilities, I propose: Plop Wee Wee Willie Dungman 87th level cardboard cutout Attack: 2001, 2001, 2001, 6 (he kind of runs out of steam in long fights) Armour Class: 8 (or 888 on a good day) Damage: 213d5 (on account of him liking to be awkward) HPs: 21,003 CR: well, er, um, 87 plus um... let's see +4 for being a cardboard cutout... +6 for having a whopping nasty huge sword... +3 'cos I like him... so I work that out at... 25! Special attacks: his Underpants. Seriously. He throws these babies at you and- Man! You're going to be in a state! Definitely the best swordsperson out there and I know for the fact that no one will ever come up with anything to beat him. Tsk...tsk..tsk...Everyone knows it's Dill Pickledipper III, the half pickled cucumber paragon noble. His dillweed sword of skewing +5 is awesome. Not to mention rather useful for roasting weiners.
