| CzarGarrett11-16-04, 12:45 PM | The book for Waterdeep may have an adventure in it. |
| Kuje3111-16-04, 12:49 PM | Is there anything coming out, adventure wise, soon for FR? Just some modules in Dungeon that have just been announced..... WOTC hasn't posted any info on the new adventure modules they said they were going to start producing again. |
| paradoxmage11-20-04, 02:34 AM | Any mega adventures? I have looked and found none. Anyone else heard anything? They need to make more. Has anyone heard any reasons why the are not makeing any? |
| Cole Deschain11-20-04, 02:41 AM | Fun fact, ladies and gents- in this day and age, published adventures in the old format are money-losers. You put out too many products, and your target audience's gaming dollar gets stretched awfully thin. TSR ended up competing with themselves, and look where that led. |
| chme11-20-04, 04:08 AM | Those adventure modules aren't gonna slow down the campaign accessory books are they? My group has had aweful experiences with purchased adventures, and only plays stuff that the GM makes. The worst thing I can imagine would be modules that were part adventure, part crunch and part world info, as I'm only interested in the latter. |
| dawgfan11-22-04, 12:37 AM | You know I really dont understand it CotSQ was a good module and yet since then we have got nothing adventure wise, while Eberron is getting a succesion of like 3 or 4 that go together. Shoot even Dragonlance has an adventure trilogy or something like thats coming out. |
| greaterbaatezu11-22-04, 04:46 AM | And those are all stupid game worlds (Yes, I'm Realms biased). It might be fun for Wizards of the cash and Hascash to publish a big BIG boxed set type adventure involving the circumstances of the Last Mythal series. I've got a PERFECT character for it. NG Gold Elf Fighter 8/Mage 22/Archmage 2/Bladesinger 2. He'd probably be one of the first to volunteer for the army that marched to Evereska, though they'd probably try to hold him back since he IS a staunch supporter of the queen AND a Gold Elf at the same time. He'd also be one of the most bitter opponents of house Durothil (trying to usurp the throne). He's got the attitude, the appearance, and the power to make a difference. But then, they never gear those kinds of adventures for epic level characters. |

We've got a whole 2 sourcebooks and 2 modules for our campaign. Whoopee! FR has recently gotten yet another sourcebook, providing quite the library so far. Kudos to Keith for taking it upon himself to rapidly pump out the Dragonshard articles to keep us supplied with valuable fluff, as well as breaking his back to give us tide-over adventures published in Dungeon on a nearly bi-monthly basis. Keith works too hard, for precious little credit. I think you guys are also forgetting that the devs have to work on the general release sourcebooks as well, and we've gotten serveral in rapid succession such as Frostburn and Libris Mortis. |
| GothicDan11-22-04, 03:02 PM | And I take offense at Dragonlance being called a "stupid world." If you're going to make judgement calls about something, please make sure you actually give reasons for it. |
| Lashan11-22-04, 03:15 PM | I'm a big Realms supporter, but I would never buy The City of the Spider Queen. There is more to FR then drow, and there are a lot of people who are just sick of drow being mentioned, let alone a whole freakin' supermodule about them. Personally, I don't like super modules as they most likely take place around something that I don't care about. A good example is the plot that greaterbaatezu posted about. I have no idea what he is talking about and don't follow the novels. I don't want an adventure based on something I tend to ignore. Give me a plot line that is independant of all the major story arcs of novels and I am happy. |
| Moscone11-26-04, 04:32 AM | I've been a gamer for 20 years. Agree or disagree all you'd like, but I've always felt that modules were created for lazy DMs with neither the time nor the inclination to come up with something on their own (gamed with too many DMs that ran strictly modules and never had an original brainstorm- could never understand why they wanted to DM at all). I'm happy to see that the market isn't being flooded with published adventures anymore. Wasted space on the shelf that could be used for sourcebooks and supplements. Modules should remain exclusively with Dungeon magazine now. No reason why you shouldn't agree with me, you pay at least $5-$10 less for them this way. Besides, where's the fun if you can just pick the module up and flip over the next couple of pages when your DM goes to the can and know exactly whats coming next? Nothing beats the DM working out his own campaign in a totally chaotic and disorganized notebook. If the DM loses the notes he can really throw a curve into things by running by the seat of his pants. Besides, playing a published adventure just feels like I'm reading from a script and jumping through someone's hoops. My days as a player within modules were not fun. |
