The New "FR FAQs & Information" Forum [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-13-04, 02:45 PM Well our new FR FAQs & Information (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=490) forum seems to finally be pretty much up and running. Sorry for all the hitches which have delayed posting all the threads. The forum will be Уread onlyФ Е experience with similar forums on other parts of the WoTCOMmunity has shown this is the best way to do things.

The FAQ and Information forum was put together to provide the following:-
* Looking at the most commonly asked questions about the Forgotten Realms and the aspects of the game that are specific to the Realms; and doing our best to provide answers
* Building a set of resources that will be helpful to people playing D&D in the Realms
* Looking at the most common topics (such as NPC stats) and making it easier for people to find these topics, and see what has already been posted
* Providing information about the FR Forums themselves:- what goes where; explanations of the rules (especially those that are specific to the FR Forums

As well as this we have made a set of УstickiedФ threads that cover some of the most popular topics, and made indexes that can be found in the first post of each thread. This should help prevent three or four threads sprouting up at the same time on the same topic, and make it much easier for people to see what has already been posted.

Many, many thanks to aravilar_holistacia for all the work he has put into this. Also thanks to Green Giant, Tebryn14 and Maskanodel for the work they have done on the popular topics threads. Finally thanks to the many posters who have shared with us the various gems we used in making the FAQ.

Goodness Е all these thankyous Е I keep expecting to hear УAnd the Oscar goes to ЕФ :D Seriously all the work on this new forum has been done in peopleТs spare time strictly on a volunteer basis. We know it is not perfect, and we fully expect it to gradually change and grow. However even as a brand new baby forum we think it will be very useful to a lot of people.

Please Е if you have ideas for extra sections, or spot any mistakes please tell us Е but be nice ;) If you have suggestions for new questions post these as well, but be warned Е you may be asked to provide the answer! ;)

But you might want to add, to the plane part of the FAQ, that you can get to the other planes of the Wheel/Ring through Sigil as well, since it exists both in the FR Tree and at the same time atop the Spire in the Great Wheel/Ring. :)

03-27-04, 06:28 AM I just wanted to stress that it is very, very necessary for all the posters here at the FR Forums to read the FAQs and Information Forum. In the past few days I've had to redirect several users to that forum for information in one way or another. I'm sorry, but it's becoming very annoying to have to continually say "please refer to the FR FAQ" or "the novels forums have been closed, please look at the Novels info thread."

The FAQs and Information forum is a creation by myself and WizO_BigSister to provide information for all the FR posters--most of the threads that used to be in this forum are now in the Information forum. We didn't have that forum created to sit and collect virtual dust; we created it so that questions could be answered and information provided to you, the FR enthusiasts.

If you have any additions you wish to make to that forum's threads, you can either PM myself or BigSister and we will get to adding your information to the thread in question.

I apologize if I'm sounding uptight, but I needed to get this out there.

We would like more feedback - tell us what you want us to cover.

04-05-04, 07:42 PM I suggest you take a look at what we have alread done, and the layout arivliar used. That will show you we cover both FAQs about this forum, and FAQs about the Realms.

04-15-04, 12:51 PM I am really, really pleased to tell you that the new FR FAQs & Information (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=490) forum is a success. Although we haven't had a lot of feedback people are reading the information there, and using the links to the new "stickied" threads.

The board hasn't been up for two months yet, and wwe have alread had over 1,000 hits on the FAQs thread and over 600 people have used the links to the threads on popular topics.

We now have 38 links in the list and its still growing. People are using that as well!

Thanks muchly to all those who helped with making this forum, and who are still helping me

Please - if you have any ideas about how to make this forum better, what else we can add, or if you want to be a "scribe" as well tell us! This forum wont work without input from the people who use the FR Boards.
